Ugh So MUCH Bad Info about the University going around in the game. It is really very simple.

Submissions needed to unlock buildings
(check your event progress - YOU MUST be in london for event continuation to unlock these - the event line moves in 3 submissions 5 submissions then 10 submissions)

Basic Research Building - Submissions 0
Advanced Research Building - Submissions 12
Specialty Research Building - Submissions 30
Free Research Building - Submissions 50

Initially accessing these building was restricted to University Development which was a server effort. As it stands now it is at level 4.

Which tasks appear in their respective Bldg's is based on the amount of submissions you have made, see this site for the amount needed.

Event is completed after 100 submissions (assuming you were in london for every event continuation - doing 20 submissions between event follow up will NOT put you up that many submissions worth of the event time line)

Method
Select Basic Research Building - Basic Prod Tech 1.
Turn eggs into chickens or chickens into eggs.
Continue the above till Advanced Research Building opens.

Select Advanced Research Building - Basic Prod Tech 1.
Turn more eggs into chickens and chicken back into eggs.
This is a limitless source of goods to produce.

Reasoning
When you reach 100 submissions - or finish the event line. you NO longer need to go back and forth from where you were doing the other university skills to London to continue the event. Now you will have all techs available to you from any archive and something nice that you will receive at the end of the event. Yes the same research is repeatable, you wont make a huge amount of credits doing it this way, but you will open the other researches that do give nice credits.

I picked up cooking just for this task. With the intention of forgetting the skill at the end. Goal was to finish the event so that grinding of the skills was not interrupted by having to go to london all the time. I'll be honest and say the method i used is not the best for credits. I finished the whole event with just around 5000, but now I can take the much higher credit award ones :)

having alchemy or linguistics I think is the fastest way to grind credits.
do the chicken-egg-chicken thing for great successes and it takes next to no time to gain 100 credits. Probably less than a minute and it can be done right in front of the professor/scholar. No tearing up of equipment or moving around much at all except to do a vig run at the nearest cafeteria owner. Get the credits you need to switch around your skills to what you want and off you go.

special production tech 1 out of advanced college. 15 pts for a great success. 7 great successes and you're done with your thesis. Hard to beat that for time-efficient grinding.

@Lewis - The guide was for pretty much anybody to be able to do at any skill level. University requirements are lvl 5 in trade/adv/maritime. Not everybody has casting/sewing/handicrafts etc. The idea of the chicken and eggs is that its an endless source of materials. Also the special production will only be faster if you are English since it requires quarters or if you are using John Dee's you still require a constant source of materials.

The guide isnt about the credits. The guide is merely a way for ppl with minimal skills to get to the end of the event as fast and cheap as possible.. what ppl do after completing the event is entirely up to them :) Guides are just that.. a guide.. nothing to be taken too seriously :)

The convo moved to alchemy/linguistic use. So if you can do alchemy at the professor, then yay. The guide is there as a guide for people with low or no skills to do. Two choices.. you can do it as it written or not.. your choice. Just don't sit and pick apart a guide that was put up, especially when ppl have spent weeks trying to achieve the same achieved in under 6 hours.

Anybody else want to nit-pick.. write your own guide ?

oh and just so we are clear. Special Production tech 1 requirements are Linguistics r2 or Alchemy r2. So even if it let you produce eggs/chickens for that thesis.. you would have to have that skills for the thesis to appear in the first place.

When Event progress reaches 100% this is when you need to return to oxford. That initially is every 3 submissions, then 5, then 10 and the final part of the event will require 20 submissions. Like OP said without doing thesis anywhere else the event is completed after 100 submissions. New research is unlocked through submissions. New buildings are unlocked through event progress and submissions and the development of the university as a whole, again all this was in the OP. Only difference being, if you do not have the required skill for a research then it wont be there.

I'm not nitpicking your guide, I'm simply saying you don't have to do an alchemy or linguistics recipe to grind that course. The people who are saying you DO have to are not only mistaken, but misinforming the whole player base.

Your guide is wonderful, but other people are allowed to post information, and especially to correct misinformation. Your guide focused on grinding submissions; when people posted their preferred method to grind CREDITS, you seemed to take this as a comment on your guide.

While it may be true that the vast majority of people don't have Alchemy/Linguistics, information that is correct and relevant is welcome here.

Doowah/Lewis/Raythe are correct, ANY great success (not just alchemy/ling recipes) will complete the Special Production tech 1 in the advanced school, and it is very fast source for credits and submissions...if you have alch. or ling. of course.

To add my own info, Shipwreck History in the advanced school is another great easy one for credits (10 long voyages = 800 credits) for those with r2 salvage or haul. Land Battle Tech 2 in the Specialty school is also good for credits if you are dungeon-running (9-10 dungeon runs = 1400 credits). Finding a thesis to do while you are doing what you want to do is the key to earning credits while not getting burned out grinding.

This will be my last post on this issue because it's turning from sharing info into more of a see-who-can-pee-higher-up-on-the-wall.

Advanced college, special production is probably the most effective means of grinding CREDITS. It requires r2 alchemy or linguistics to even be able to see it. You get 5 points towards your thesis for using an alchemy or linguistics recipe, but here's the kicker: you get 15 points towards your thesis for a great success. This is ANY great success with any production attempt. These go by blisteringly fast because after 7 great successes you are done, 100 credits and 50 trade fame. If you are just interested in finishing the college event then this isn't the one for you. If you need to grind trade fame or fame in general it's a valid option. If you need credits to switch around your special skills I don't believe there is a faster way to get it done.

As you turn in completed theses, you fill up a progress gauge. Every time it hits 100%, you can go to Oxford and trigger cutscenes; this is essential to opening up all four starred buildings for research, plus more research thesis options, and ultimately the title "Professor of Voyages". There's a little more to it than that, but I'm sailing atm... somebody else want to explain the rest?

There's a title called "Professor of Voyages' if you submitted a total of 100 thesis. Any submission is required, you can take the same thesis until you reach 100. That's also were the cutscenes or storyline? will end.

From there you can just take other thesis to unlock other oxford skills. Of course, that is a lot and hard to explain. you may refer to the University link here in uwodb.
