I've loaded this skill, but I was just given a map I've done before? I'm assuming I took it from a different scholar, so it looks like this skill only hides old maps from the same scholar. Can't think of any other explanation.

It hides discovery maps, not all maps. Not the maps that gives you a treasure.

This is great information ReaD, I didn't know about this skill. I should pursue it. But the fact of the matter, I was given a *discovery* map that I did before. To be precise, the deer-like animal map that leads to the impala discovery. So while I'm glad I learned something new, I also have to stand by my previous comment.

usually...if you load the skill before reading the book from archive...you won't receive any disco map that you have discover before...unless you lose the discovery card.....losing the card will make map appear even you have done it before...

Yeah I agree, I've used the skill before too. I'm just reporting on a case where it produced weird result :-). I also checked I still have the particular card, but thanks for the note, useful to know.

OK, I have to correct myself :-). The discovery map I got was a very similar - same title, same landing spot - but actually different from the one I had before. So yeah, no complains, skill works reliably.

I may have mentioned it earlier in-game, but I will do it again...

When you've discovery from map, then you won't receive this discovery map again until you've reported the discovery to a NPC in exchange for rewards (ducats, QMP and social skill prof). Here is then the thing, don't report any of them and you won't receive those maps again, hence this makes this oxford skill not essential at some point.

Although in pre-industry this would been too difficult since Quest Mediation Permits were scarce that time, but thanks to the introduction of Union along with their shop it is much easier to get those permits. Therefor, applying this method is now feasible.
