how to level this skill fast?

cml
01-19-2012
how i lvl this skill to r8 quickly??

Kennit
01-20-2012
you need a ship with a skill then you win lots of sea battles with ships your lvl or higher, there is not a quick way....

Holfina
04-07-2012
is it based on your level? or relative to your skill rank?

Lisa
04-07-2012
or so you must win a battle? so should we just attack the admiral and win? or do you gain skill from every enemy you defeat?

Port Official
04-07-2012
you gain xp to ARMS skill per sea battle victory(using a ship with any skill). sink admiral is the fastest way, but if your a serious maritimer you will want to kill/sink all the ships to get max cannon/melee skill xp and fame

Huh?? i used gogglemanglatation and am super confused..... it says what? you can attack and run away and still get arms skill??????

Also what does the table mean? "Vessels by a Tamoio withdrawal (total)"

Does that mean I can attack a high level fleet, then run away and still gain arms skill??

Jafar
04-07-2012
I think it means that if you are high level, you need to attak high level fleets

The list of ship below table probably mean that it the total of all ship in fleet add up to higher level for better arms skill gain

What do they define to be "Powerful Equipment"?

Ming Mei
06-19-2012
"Powerful Equipment" means shipskills that require arms that you'll find on this website under "shipskills"

I gained my first rank up in this skill today, using only melee. I was able to be sunk and lose a battle and still gain arms proficiency points. However when I fought weaker ships in the mediterranean i gained no points. As of this post im battle lvl 20, minimum for this skill, and gained points in india west coast amd bay of persia.

Sophia

Tested it out. You can NOT attack and run away to get points in Arms.

Hans
11-30-2012
i win ship battles but my arms is still at 0/200

Liza
11-30-2012
You need two things:

1. A ship that has a ship skill that requires Arms.

2. To defeat NPC fleets whose total levels at least match your own. At least that's how it was explained to me.

If you're not getting prof, sounds like you need higher level fleets, assuming you have a ship with an appropriate ship skill.

Theo
11-30-2012
you need to have ship skill in order to rank up

Lancelot
11-30-2012
lol you can rank the arms even if you ship skill doesnt require arms

Hans

quit sinking barcas and fight npc's more on the order of your level.

Lisa
01-19-2013
this only ranks up if you shoot cannons, right??

Theo
01-19-2013
You need to sink ships, with cannons much better. You get arms rank meleeing, but seems to be 1/3. The higher level the enemy ship sunk, more proficiency you get, also the lower overall level your ship has, more prof (MAV or MFCV if you dont get the first are great ships for arms grind)

From my experiencie I can say that you can rank it up if you do either melee or use cannons. As I'm posting this I'm maritime 37, I'm ranking this skill since lvls 32/52/35, sinkin fleets near zanzibar: 1 xebec,3 zambuk or 2 medium galley and 2 small (cant remember the fleet's name). As I was 35 both fleet game around 25 proficiency points, but when I leveled to 36 the galleys fleet stoped giving me points but the xebec/sambuk did. Somethimes it took three xebec's fleet to gain 50 points, sometimes only 2.

When I reached 37 It was the same so I decided to move to calicut to shink xebecs (4 xebecs or 1 heavy galley and 3 xebecx), two of theses fleets gave me 50 points. I hope this info could help you mind what it takes to lvl up.

Btw I was usuing a heavy frigate.

So, that means that the higher level you are the harder it will be to rank up this skill? The sooner you get it the better?

Miyo
04-29-2013
yes but u can only get this skill when u have the west coast of america permit. which means u need to have all the port permits n done the imperial.

Natascha
04-29-2013
I got this skill very very late (like over level 50 maritime). Was already in a Vaisseau by the time I got it. Once i got serious about ranking it up tho it has moved quickly. The Maroona and Eczuma fleets rank it up quickly, as do the EA grinding fleets.

Junchul
04-29-2013
this is an important skill you must get it as soon as possible :)

Holfina
05-28-2013
checking again, can you just kill the admiral to level it fast?

Nicola
05-28-2013
the more high level ships, the better, so dont go to only admiral

Donce
07-24-2013
I got this skill then i started maritime, at battle level 52, i got Vaisseau and i raised Arms very quickly going to deck battle. I don't sink or melee all ships in the fleet, i just go straight to admiral and go to deck battle - i am Rank 7 now, i reached it in about 2 months doing maritime. I started fighting Baccania fleets in Caribbean, then moved to SEA to fight Buggles Assault fleets. Of course sometimes i train melee skills, but my point is that going to Deck battle and wining it is a fast way to raise Arms.

or u can simply use cannons 16 , ballistics acc penetration , go santo domingo to find privateer fleet and 1 shot the admiral =.=

Liza

Do i need to have a skill on my ship to level arms?

Kicker
09-15-2013
yes, you must have some kind of skill on the boat.

Misun
11-30-2013
You can level all these skills quicker the more skills you have on a boat.
here is the math for this skill.

BP + BP / 2 + (number subdued -2) xBP / 4

Couldn't find this anywhere so I'll ask. Is there any advantage to have this skill over r10?

Dongwoo
02-09-2014
Seems doubtful, as Arms is only used to activate certain ship skills.

Miyo
02-09-2014
No. Arms only serves as a prerequisite for certain ship skills. Having a higher rank does not grant you any special bonuses, nor are there any ship skills that requires +10 Arms.

Hans

Any use of this skill if I am a trader or adventurer?

tsunamid

If ur ships can have these skills Lifeboat Military Camouflage maybe yes. You can see the adv ships can have these skills in links.

Kossmynn
02-04-2015
well, it is advisable too grow all 3 special skills (management, arms, navigation); u know never when u need them ;) besides that Alcher, it's most likely you turn maritime one day ;)

BIakeC

FYI Lifeboat actually requires R8 navigation, not Arms. And even then there was an update in one of the 2nd age chapters that allows you to use rescue skill to rescue sailors from storms and sirens I think too, making Lifeboat obsolete.

One other Arms ship skill traders and adventurers might benefit from is Moored Mine. If you get caught by a player pirate and you use mines on them with Moored Mine and he/she runs over one... it will bring them to a complete stop, allowing ample time to escape. Even turning to avoid them will slow them down somewhat.

When Atlantis concludes and chapter 1 of the Age of Revolution update comes, the three ship skills (Navigation, Management, Arms) will have their max level cap raised to R15. New ship skills and recipes taking advantage of this will also begin to be introduced.

BIakeC
12-09-2016
Skill cap for this has been raised to R15 now. While it serves little, if any, purpose for now its usefulness will shine in the next major update, Age of Revolution where their will be new (as Guilder pointed out) ship skills and recipes taking advantage of this.

I tried to level up this skill fighting ships while mine has one on it, but somehow the exp doesn't increase at all even if for navigation and management works. Any idea?

Guilder
10-06-2021
What rank are you, and what ships were you fighting? Storage skill stops gaining prof on sardines after a certain rank, and Arms is the same as I recall; fighting high level NPC ships (the giant Black Sea galleys and frigates for example) will usually always yield Arms proficiency, at least up to r10 - even if you just fry them with Amulets of the Sun.

Marfisa
10-06-2021
I'm rank 1 with the skill so I guess the ships were too easy for getting the exp.
Thanks for the info!

Marfisa
10-07-2021
I tried to fight also black sea ships but the exp is always zero at this rate I don't know if I need not only the ship skill but also something else.

Guilder
10-07-2021
No problem. Your total levels may be affecting it as well, perhaps? Sadly, this is not an area I have much knowledge in, so I hope a few good maritimers can come by and offer some insights to your problem soon. Cheers, and hope you can figure out a fix soon.

Marlisa, make sure the ship yu're using to battle have a skill in it. or you'll nt earn exp fron the fights.

Marfisa
10-07-2021
I have on the ship Paymaster Cabin and Military Camouflage so I'm quite sure there are skills on it, moreover with management and navigation I'm gettimg exp so it shouldn't be the problem.
