I like to grind evasion and mine at same time. Go to carib and take the IQ. When you get ambushed, lay mines to the end of the battlefield. Good prof because you hit lot of enmies. I recommand you to be scout since it have both mine and evasion favoured. Good luck :)

Mine damage does NOT cap at 250. He's referring I think to R1 Mine Laying. I hit a player pirate with R8 Mine Laying with 300+ damage, and he had Steering R15.

Wow so mines do massive damage! Imagine r16+2 (just scout job and aide, not even including gear bonus) and laying 2-3 mines close to each other.

mine grinding is best against big ships, like large galleons (Jolo buggie, Korean Merchant Raider fleet), or EA IQ with LaRoyal.

If you have the levels to fight in SEA. Go after the makkassi assault fleets. They are armed xebecs near Ambon. They sail straight for you going for a ram attack.

I was in a lvl 30 tact galley with 250/150 sails but no rowing skill (didn't have the slot for it) and I was faster. Sail in a straight line and lay them down. With their AI you can destroy the entire fleet with them.

if im grinding and use my aide in battle n he lays mines n they get hit does that give me minelaying experience ?

if you want more battle exp DON'T use your aide in battle. as for mines i think you get exp from the hits. i got my skill form r1 to r3 in no time. one more thing try to have a lot of vigour food because this skill consumes a lot at early levels

I don't know about when you lay them down, but it definitely ranks up when enemy ships hit your mines, and I think the more ships you hit at once the more prof you get as well.

So if one mine hits 4 ships you get more prof than if once mine hits 1 ship.

be careful not to get caught in your own mines though, then the enemy gets near.

dont forget that u'll need to wait a while after u lay a certain amount of mines , however , i have heard that ganador is the best place to grind this skill

complex question Slideman.
if you get Roaring Sea Mines, Moored Mines or Special sea mine this skill can be a total game changer, but compared to what a bow crit could do their damage will never be high, so you need to be able to outrun your target and avoid crits which makes it hard to use effectively.

This is more of a support skill in my mind. Like Edgedemon mentioned, even with r20 minelaying, it's not gonna damage >1k. However, mines take significant dura off ship parts and ships, and it used to be a common tactic for folks to use a r15 minelaying job to beat up ship parts/max dura of their enemies. That coupled with some of the mine skills can make this seriously deadly for PvP, and also RSM can greatly help in PvE as well vs. say a strong ganador or the admiral of a strong quest fleet.

does mine lower ur enemy speed when it hit ? i'm thinking to get this skill as defensive measure against pirates , laying mines to slow him down and keep sailing out of battle (with escape if necessary)

Only if your ship has the Moored Mines skill. But when you do have that skill, it brings them nearly to a dead stop, the same as if they took a crit to the bow.

Mine Laying can cause confusion or great confusion like Roaring Sea Mines? I was thinking is I can use it to cause confusion before use abordage and plunder some goods.
