              10-24-2012
Once you got port permits, buy about 600 whiskey in British isles, sail to Macau, 'bribe' City official with approx 200-300 whiskey get nanban permit for Macau..
Sail east to Tamsui-(north) Taiwan, 'bribe' City official approx 200-300 whiskey (any left can sell SEA), get nanban permit for Tamsui..
then i suggest you study the 'backstock chart' for both ports

The +/- numbers represent the ports current stock
0 is the normal status (CANT trade at 0 green arrow)
+1 > +6/7 This an overstocked (NEVER trade orange/red arrow)
-1 > -7 This is understocked (ALWAYS trade blue arrow)

the ports staus changes (i dont know the interval/timing) but thers a symbol top left next to port name in game tell current port status

as i write this Macau is in Festival and Tamsui is in boom,
im buying 800 pigs in Gia Dinh-SEA, processing to pork and supplying both ports about 500-600 pork and im getting an easy 300-400 culture points each time =)

              Sonia
              10-24-2012
i have shared storage in Tamsui so its easier for me, but eventually you will run out of space and just need to sail back EU to sell yer EA goods
(i think the EU market rates are variable, not certain though).
before returning check the 'backstock chart' for EU local goods that are in demand Artwork to Macau , or Dyes to Tamsui.

if Macau or Tamsui is ever in Recession status DONT trade.
eventually your cultur points for china will rise to 10K+ and Quanzhou nanban permit will be earned (+10k for consequtive ports in south China)
and also at 20k culture in Tamsui , then Anping permit is earned..

              hope this helps...

i should maybe add this note , my personal opinion: i think it is best
to stay in EA and sell EA goods off cheaply 20-25k each and continue to trade until you have gained Quanzhou permit 10k contibution points South China

ok im going out on a limb here... and i may be trolled but,
              i think
              Rewards from influential people:
(being only available from Anping and Chongqing - currently).
is likely based on how much 'Local/Specialty goods' (possibly EU only)that you trade in these ports...

No, Netmarble stupidly capped Nanban Trade to make it less profitable.

Here it's 3 Europe goods for 1 Nanban good if you perform the ideal trade.
In Japan you get 1 for 1 if you perform the ideal trade.
In Korea there's an NC item you can buy to uncap the Nanban trade.

              Go do dungeons instead.

Bring the item(from EU) in the lowest backstock..
take the item(in EA) with the highest backstock(u can see the amount...the highest graph = high backstock)

So you can't do consecutive nanban trades in one city - you have to port hop. Does anybody know if that requirement resets at some point, like daily or weekly? I mean, I did some nanban a couple weeks ago and suppose the last city I traded in was Macau. Will I be able to trade in Macau now that time has passed or do I have to do another city first?

              AliBayan
              01-25-2013
Nah - the port hop is enough I believe; it's not necessary to do a trade in another town. I can't confirm 100%, but I could swear I've traded in the same town again after a port hop, at least few times so far.

The port hop might be avoided too, with the NC item:
              New Nanban Permit Bill

Alright, thanks! I hadn't realized that point, well so far I only unlocked it and did some experiments to get a feel of the basics. Good to know. I unlocked it with prunes by the way. Around 500 prunes total were enough for both officials, like 220 in one place and 280 in the other. Just putting it down for people wondering what they could carry there on their first visit.

Yep - feathers here, used less than 150 for Taiwan, and I think about 400 for China. The amounts depend on a backstock etc.

The advantage of it was, that I could do this spontaneously, having come with nothing. I've just procured few chickens in the Tamsui outskirts, and did the chicken-eggs loop until I had enough pixel feathers for those good pixel people.

Japan is working, but I don't know that I trust the backstock listed on here...at least not for the gift to open it up.

Wine has a ranking of 4000, but bringing 1400 of them to Nagasaki only resulted in 900 gift points....even though alcohol is/was low.

Backstock list is for doing nanban trade after you've unlocked it.

Unlocking by bribing city official has a separate list of trade goods, namely specialty goods from Europe.

Liza nanban is simple. For Macau take some food over, ham does well, turn it in. Step outside start fishing go straight out until you can't see the town behind you. Turn around, drop anchor outside. Break down the fish and trade again. Rinse repeat. 1400 fish will get me 50some DoubanJian.

Turning 1400 fish (sell price 220 normally) into 3 million is not crap trading to me.

I can make Saltpetre at almost zero cost (just vigor food, and I make that too....) and even though I only get 3-1 trade volume, the value of the items is massive. Even if I had to purchase Saltpetre for 1500 each at 3-1 you are turning 4500 into 50000.... That's really not so bad....

              Erda
              03-15-2013
              @Sakura

Cost is not the issue, but the value-for-time is the issue. With 3-1 you will need 6 return trips to fully fill the cargo with nanban goods. The 3:1 nerf is inconsiderate.

Is there a easy or at least faster way to get tons of money other than dungeons? I mean I am a maritme/trader, I used to do Spice runs but the profit is shit compared to dungeons. I cant do dungeons, my lvls are 34/53/40, SP r9, SM r5, first aid 8, I have 3 basic combat techs and 2 level 2. I tried Bordeax dundeon and I almost die everytime I did it.

What should I do? Get 99 def items? Give up? Because nanbab trade us SHIT.

improve your skills, easy. Go to merida or portobello and kill thousands of npcs (hellish repetitive but a lot faster than maxing trade skills for crap result if you want fast money)

              Xiao Wei
              04-27-2013
You want easy fast money but aren't willing to put time into learning about Nanban trade. That's why dungeons are so easy to run, no skill or learning required. If you want to really make ducats in the game you should take some time and learn Nanban trade. It does take time and trial and error but worth it to do so. Anything worthwhile in life doesn't come so easy. The same thing applies to this game. Nanban trade isn't for wussies though because you have to avoid pirates or deal with them if you want to trade in East Asia. Dungeons are safe though from pirates.

              Dongwoo
              04-27-2013
@Xia Wei There is nothing to lear about nanban trade, it's very easy to understand: Just sail fast, have lots of cargo and give items with low backstock (1-2 speciality goods from the same type will get you best results), but dont bother delivering livestock, foodstuff or other shity trade goods because you will get very low exchange rate even if the backstock is the lowest possible.

Don't come here saying stupid shit like "Nanban is good as long as you know how to do it" or "Nanban trade is profitable, you dumbass". Highest exchange ratio is joke, 3:1, you have to do multiboxing in order to get profit from nanban shit.

Yesterday I did a nanban run, I exchanged 150 and 641 trade goods (641 was the most valued t.g. in that area) and I picked the good with highest ratio and only got 242 EA goods; I sold them in the propper EU zones and the max amount I was able to get was 20M after 2 succesfully haggles (17M was the base price I got).

Nanban trade is this in GAMA.

No one can try to argument that namban is better than dungeons, don lie to yourselves. Problem is TIME to get the same profits. Preparations (skills grind, ships, etc) for namban takes a lot more time than dungeons skills. With maximun skill sets and equipment, dungeon profits are higher counting the same TIME spent. A trader need to do multiboxing -or relying in the NC 1:1 item- to be able to surpass dungeoners (and isnt for sure), and that is a fact. As long rates are SHIT, dungeons is the faster way of getting money (but, eventually NC stuff Seville trading surpass both)

do dungeon items give fame? I understand the dangeon run from time to time, but the game is not just Ducats, you need the 300k trade fame. I never try the FSD thing but trade without fame is a bit useless if you don't desperate need Ducats

It's not an instant 1:1 trade item.
It gives x3 goods so in a way you're right, however if the city is in recession then it can't go to 1:1 and other things.
Basically this item will give you x3 more goods so if you brought 1500 Wines to Sakai and at base trade you get 450 in return --max possible rate is 1:3, it doesn't mean its always 1:3 though, sometimes it goes down to 1:5, 1:6, etc.
              450 x 3 = 1350

Nanban goods are now only going for 35k-40k in markets if you can find a good price for them. I have managed to get the selling rate up to 45k but only if you can haggle real well. I havednt tried spices yet. Gem stones such as Ruby, Sapphire, and Pearl dont seem to be effected.

Yes , 35k aprox for ea goods ;40k aprox for special ea goods like Paper lantern in italy or the british isles, and for spices like nutmeg , mace and cloves ( i tested them) from 20 to 26 k , if anyone has info on pepper , cinnamon or black tea please post :)

65 and 75 are indeed things of the past, yes. I think once I got close to 57 for japanese paintings in Marseilles, with base price at 130% and multiple successful haggles.

Blaz, try clicking on the various trade good icons. I did so for livestock and saw a 'value' rating for various non-EA livestock trade goods, like alpacas. That may be what you're looking for? I don't know if the values are up to date with all the 2nd Age changes, though. Now to be fair, this section is very informative, but it isn't very clearly labeled. I thought those trade good buttons were just decorative when I first came here. Happily, a player named MarcoS made a great guide, which you can find here:

              uwomarcos.blogspot.com/

It covers a lot of topics, from how to determine value of trade goods when you're taking them out to East Asia, to how the reward system works, and then some. If you have Nanban questions, go read the guide first, and see if they aren't answered there. Have fun trading out there, all!

I'm sorry, but the prices shall stay the same. Don't know how an “admin” wouldn't recall that all EA good's profits in EU has decreased 30% when the 2nd Age patch was uploaded, resulting in the decrease of price. So, you can't really uplift the price.

Lately I see way TOO many player doing nanban with just wine to Japan and yet they complain why there are so many pirates camping. Of course because you people (those who I refer) keep doing the same trade without thinking a alternative! >_<

In order to make it clear which goods are the best for each East Asia Country, I will list it here which are as far known by me. These are goods that brings (almost) the best results (1:1 with NPC) at a normal state of the port.

              South China:
              Marble
              Saltpetre
              Western Books
Musk (Super-effective but expensive to get)
              Yangju Chestnut (Indirect-method, super-effective)
Inca Rose (Expensive to get, unless doing Lima Dungeon)
Jade (You can get lots of them from Pegu (with jeweller trade) or Palenque Dungeon)
              Tourmaline

              Korea:
              Glasswork
Tobacco (Not good at Pohang due high backstock on Luxery)
Inca Rose (Expensive to get, unless doing Lima Dungeon)
              Ruby
              Eye-beads
              Tourmaline

              Japan:
Glasswork (Not good at Sakai due high backstock on Crafts)
Wine (Nothing to say but... easiest to get for most, but hard to peform nanban with due high backstock of alcohol by players...)
              Yangju Chestnut (Indirect-methode, super-effective)
Inca Rose (Expensive to get, unless doing Lima Dungeon)
Eye-beads (Not good at sakai due high backstock on Crafts)
              Tourmaline

              Taiwan:
              Saltpetre
              Western Books
Musk (Super-effective, but expensive to get)
              Glasswork
              Yangju Chestnut (Indirect-method, super-effective)
Inca Rose (Expensive to get, unless doing Lima Dungeon)

I hope this will make some little changes for the traders (guess not). But for those, I hope this helps a lot ^_^

              Kind Regards,

Another tip that can be helpful: If you have a trade skill relating to the good your exchanging for, your get a bonus of 2% more for per rank you have depending on the good type. Here's an example: Let's say your trading to get Saori in Sakai, and you normally get 1000 Saori back. Saori falls under the Crafts trade good category. If you happen to have, say, R10 Crafts trading, your get 20% more which means you get 1200 Saori then the 1000 Saori if you didn't have it. Testing this out with an alt, I also found:

              - This can stack with NPCs and the nanban trade preference ship skill
              - You can use booster equipment to get a bigger bonus
              - Best of all, if your in a fleet, other fleet members can leech the skill so they can get the bonus for themselves as well.

Huseyin-Gazi explain it very good as usual but i like comment since I'm nanban runner that kind of ppl which Gazi refer to .
As i always saying this system not balanced at all as simple as that u can load wine in 5 min with very less po usage and nearly free price and do it to jap over and over while i spend alot of money and time to see which items very easy to get for other countries and i found nothing ,with a french alt in Bordeaux u can buy up to 250 with R13 alcohol trading only R13 ! compare that with other countries needs and u will notice this system is big joke they need only ppl to do trades in jap wine jap and jap wine that is the game best way to make money....

              Wystein
              11-19-2015
As I said before this inbalance is because GAMA is a F2P server where there are cash shop items that distort the intended game balance. Try doing Nanban without using NPC and you will see how the balance works as you will no longer be able to get best rates by just bringing wine all the time.

              TopGuns
              11-19-2015
@Wystein I don't talk about NPC 4 sure no one do naban without NPC I mean by not balanced if wine is very easy and fast to load and work very well in jap why there is no other items for other 3 countries same as wine ?
some ppl may say yes there is like Gazi list some of them but try to load and compare it with cost/time to load with wine that is what i mean so no wonder every one camping at jap
another thing i confirm what BlakC said about 2% Kill3r fleet me while he have R20 craft trading and i got full cargo saori (22**) while i would get only17** without party him

              Guilder
              11-19-2015
Oh, NPCs exist in the pay-for servers too. MMOs are a money-making business, and no matter how much you try to enforce balance, one group of players will always have an advantage over another.

As to the ease of wine compared to other routes, seems to me that it is offset by backstock rates, and that Japan is a popular pirate hangout. The thing is, you can make money doing just about anything in this game; you just need to know how and to be willing to work together with others. Simple as that.

              Egw
              11-19-2015
I'll give my opinion on this nanban discussion since the server is unreliable atm, although I'm sure it will be wildly unpopular :-).

Nanban should be for trading what those highest rank treasure hunts are for adventuring, those hidden rooms with 10 lvl80 ghosts are for dungeoning, or (pick your favourite pita-to-beat fleet) is for sea battling: a high-level, end-game activity, that only traders that have taken the time to work up their skills should be able to excel at consistently without help (emphasis on "without help").

Therefore, if anything, instead of getting "wine-like" goods for the other three nanban areas, I'd rather see wine nerfed. But of course that can't / won't work in practice, because then you'd get half the server go "boohoohoo traders make all the money". So realistically, I'll concede ONE easy for everyone option is needed. At least let it stay there, let it be ONE ONLY for everyone to make money. Those who want to do well in the other areas too, please dedicate the skill slot(s) to more trading skills and take the time to grind them, or seek help, or accept your nanbaning will have its limitations, in the same way that dedicated merchant toons accept that their solo adventuring, dungeoning or seabattling will have its limitations.

Chonging nanban is broken? every backstock is low

              Curious
              11-22-2015
Yes, Chongqing is indeed broken. It has been since the release of the game here on Gama and nothing has been done about it which is quite infuriating for me and a lot of other nanbanners.

What does broken mean in this case exactly? Basically you will never EVER get a 1:1 trade there. You could bring Musk there while it's in a Boom and use a NPC plus a ship with Nanban Trade Preference and you will still not get a 1:1 trade.

              H.-Gazi
              11-22-2015
Booming drops most of the backstock rates which makes them to offer less EA goods to you as well. I usually go there if there is recession while my trade good type doesn't get affected, but unfortunate it neither affect Art Trade goods... That is what you need to get 1:1 with Mianzhu nian hua.

I was expecting the backstock rate at least of this type would raise, because this one is very good for The Netherlands / France / Italy. It even surpasses Saori and Gumo Ink.

Hope it will get fixed in the future ever... :S

              BIakeC
              11-22-2015
You can bring anything you want but you will NEVER get a good rate back for Mianzhu. In my year or so of playing, and having all of China unlocked, I have yet to see backstock rate for Artwork in Chongqing actually go up. This is unfortunate, because it is the only other high value good that sells for a premium price in the Netherlands and in the Italy/Southern France area (the other being Saori and Paper Lanterns respectively). I did get a good amount of Yunnan Silver back during recession status once, but it's not even that great because it only sells well in the Northern France area and that area is usually crashed with Metals due to Bordeaux dungeon.

We really need to get OGplanet on the track to get KOEI to change this, unless theres a unknown fix in one of the updates we dont know about.

Even if you could get Mianzhu on a regular basis like the other high value goods the extra time taken to sail all the way to Chongqing would make it not worthwhile anyway. If for some reason you'd still like to try to get a good amount of Mianzhu I'd suggest rapidly dumping a few thousand units of art there and see what happens to the backstock. Nanban markets can be manipulated by player actions... just like European ones.

According to the backstock section, it seems that Chongqing only consumes trade goods and only produces little during recession. All arrows pointing down all of the time except during recession (with some +1). In contrast to other cities that have arrows pointing up for their specialty goods except during boom status.

Assuming that the backstock chart is correct, Chongqing is indeed a useless city for nanban trading. I cant find any other resource regarding that except on here.

This puzzles me because this situation put French players at a disadvantage in nanban, with Lanterns the only high priced goods for them. Although one might argue that Montpellier is an Iberian city but there is very high risk of crashed market or low price with just one city to sell.

queation bout town status , said bonus is for what ? what we get ? or if we bring said goods we will get bonus

              example :

War : "Apparently there was a war in XXX. First aid supplies should be seeing an increase in sales."
Bonus Bonus : Medicine / Fibres / Arms

at war , we get more of Medicine / Fibres / Arms or if we bring Medicine / Fibres / Arms we will get more goods ?

question 2 : is chongqing still useless ?

thx in advance for answering this noob curiousity

              Heya Amuroray,

Here are the answers for your questions:

              Q1
When an town jumps into an certain status. Certain types of goods will be targeted where as in most case the backstock rate will drop (less in source for that EA port). This means that the demand on those types of good will raise. Example: Macau is under "drought"-status and you bring Musk (Perfume), meaning that the backstock of perfum types gradually decreases meaning more demand for your musk and thus better rewards. :-) Just note that the data's on ivyro about town status can deviate in practice!

              Q2
In the past Chongqing was considered useless since ALL backstock rates were low to get any 1:1 ratio trade there. However with the alchemy boost (Forbidden Alchemy Book prefered) and great trade skills, you can get some goods on 1:1 there. This requires an extremly good trade good. You can get Mianzhu nian hua from it too which sells one of the highest price in EU at Southern France/Italy and The Netherlands.

Sadly, this gets beaten by Wuxu Porcelain.. In my opinion it isn't fair due that one is much easier to get and the fact longer distance is required to get hands on Mianzhu. I hope my suggestion reaches the developers to adjust this.

Anyway I hope this has been clear :-)

              Kind Regards,

So for question 1 it's what we bring that will get us bonus

and chongqing basically still not that worth

              ok thx

oh 1 more question bout nanban , so in a nut shell we should bring whatever low backstock they have and they will give goods base on their backstock , high backstock means they give more goods trade , is this correct ?

Well, I've only done Nanban a few times myself, but as I understand it, the backstock rate's graph gives you an idea of what you should bring. The closer to the top the graph bar is, the less demand there is for a specific type of trade good, while the closer it is to the bottom shows a huge demand for a trade good type. I think high backstock means more goods given out in exchange, but I may be wrong on that.

Oh, and by the way, sometimes when we refresh pages on the DB, we can accidentally create a double post. If that happens, just look for the silver-grey button in the lower right corner of your post; that's the "Delete Post" button. Useful, if that ever should happen to you for whatever reason.

Until someone can give you a better and more concise answer: yes. Just unlock all the cities of a particular region, keep on trading in that region, and eventually you'll be summoned to meet that region's leader (Masamune Date for Japan, Koxinga for Taiwan, and so on), who will give you a random MA item reward. It takes a while to do, but the rewards for persisting are very nice ones.

I believe, correct me if I'm wrong but not only chance but will only be summoned when that chance was right when in the same city as the leader ie EDO

At designated intervals, San Francisco will sometimes host a 1-day only, randomly chosen Nanban specialty good for purchase in its marketplace, in conjunction with the new railroad system. Today for example, the ever coveted Paper Lanterns of Japan are being sold for about 1.8k a piece. Recall also that you can use PO1s at normal markets to refresh their stock, and that Nanban goods can be ferried across the Railroad... well, I'm sure some enterprising kids out there will think of some way to use that knowledge.

You can keep an eye out for deals like this if you've charted the San Francisco Open Sea, and have discovered San Francisco, you can check its available trade goods via Charts. Maybe your fellow players would be nice enough to make mention of when it happens, also. Cheers.

90 % of nanban info. in this site are wrong i'm not talking about ea goods prices which is nerved long time back even info about back stock and trade goods value numbers also wrong .the only considered as right info is the target sell area which tell u the right place to sell your ea goods in erou .

Until now the listed trade good value- and backstock data have served me very well in determening what goods to bring to each nanban area and predicting backstock changes.

So how are they wrong ?

Sure, there are some new trade goods that have been introduced to the game since the info was written down. And yes the nanban good values have been nerfed, but its the relative values that matter.

So the data is incomplete, but correct according to my observations.

if there is a single nanban good not here, is one i haven't seen either.

i think the prices were reduced by 20% base or something, still i use those values as my min sell value reference, back stock is inherently meant to be dynamic and trade good value changes with said back stock, so they "are" meant to be reference only.
