What does port hop means? just go back and forth? or you need to do nanban trade? or what to do? just sail?

sail out of a town until it's not visible then turn back, or sail out to another town then back to the original town. nanban trade with each port reset with 50 trade goods, some EA towns accept fish which is cost effective and youll need the fisherman preservation book for that.

by port hopping, the quests shown will be reset and so will the amount of items u can buy from the market keeper. Its like using a QMP and all po at the same time, only it takes longer

You need to do trading (50 units of trade goods) every time you do the port hop. So there is a limit of hops: how many goods to perform namban trade your ships can carry.
