Blue Arrow are good, other are not. Each time someone exchange with nanban, the goods is add to the stock of the category. Arrow tell you how fast the stock go down. To get more goods from Nanban, you need to supply goods from categories with low stock.

it's backstock, when backstock is high, that's bad, they already have a lot of it. When backstock is low the demand is high, so it will be more advantageous to you to use that.
ReaD06-20-2013
there is foodstuff icon on above on each of the region..try to click it...

like ReaD said click into a trade goods category like foodstuffs, youll see 'value' higher the value, the better to trade that particular good.

So can somebody explain to me how these + and - indications work in combination with in-game backstock information. Example. Plague in Macau, foodstuffs at -6, but let's say in-game backstock is currently high. To trade or not to trade?
ReaD06-23-2013
when certain condition happen in 1 town like plague in macau...things like Foodstuffs / Livestock / Luxury Goods will have their backstock go down...
and trading something that is needed(Foodstuffs / Livestock / Luxury Goods ) while in certain condition like plague give bonus or 2 times more value on cultural points...
but you kinda need to wait for a little bit till the backstock chart in nanban merchant really low and then do the nanban....
sometimes..with the help of nanban purveyor certificate...you may get 1:1.2 rate(i do and i don't have that ship skill yet)..but not all the times since i still kinda need to figure out how to get it all the times..
tl:dr
condition happen(plague) -> bring something that give bonus(Foodstuffs / Livestock / Luxury Goods ) -> wait for backstock getting really low -> get 2x cultural point -> ??? -> profit...

the plusses and minuses are modifiers that influence the backstock. It's a lot like the arrows at the merchant, if market is crashed and prices are currently at 50%, you don't really care if the price is trending up or down, you don't sell. You trade according to what the backstock is, not what it's going to be later on.

guys what those percents means?

Claudia

The percents indicates the starting backstock when port was opened, after that its modified by events and player interventions. Is a roughly stimation of the average backstock if no one trades, in a port most goods type has lowering ammounts of goods (so a starting baseline of 30% can eventually drop to almost 0, and even when a lot of players sells that type of goods to barter, backstock will never be very high). Also, there are few goods that the town exports and almost always growing, naturally can reach almost max backstock and by player buying can eventually drop to the baseline, but hardly will be a lot lower.

what's the best you can take to nanban trade in China , i know wine is excellent for Japan , but what's the best for China ?
ReaD12-27-2013
western book is possibly best thing for china port other than yuntaishan(since this port produce sundries product which is bad if bring in western book)....
Yuntaishan need different thing like European Armour, or Saltpetre depend on backstock...
