Try lvl your cooking byond R4 cooking and it will stop.
Get a ship with cooking skill, but make sure alt has the lvls to use it.

Rank matters, but the recipe being used matters too. If you are using a recipe that is the same level as yoru rank, expect fires. Use a recipe 3-4 levels under your rank, or more, fires very rare. Ship skill "galley" helps reduce fires, but does not eliminate them.

One good thing bought fires from cooking at sea is unlike a random fire you don’t always instantly lose flammable cargo (like your food) before you have a chance to put the fire out. Sometimes you will though but not too often

Please help !
1. Has anyone achieved Chef Meister Title? I would like to hear about it!
2. Is R10 really max cooking rank? If so how do we get Chef Meister title?
3. Why does it say my cooking skill (r10) IS maxed out, yet Patissier job quest requires r12???
Thanks for reading! :D

to get the titles you need to have r15.
get the chefs job out of stockhlom rank to r16

R10 is the max rank for a skill that is not favored for the job your in.
R15 is the max rank for a skill that is favored for the job your in.
R16 is the max rank for a skill that is expert for the job your in.
So to increase your base cooking rank higher than 10 you need to change to a job where cooking is favoured or expert.

What are the additional effect is this skill is refined? Also what happens with storage?
DixonH08-09-2016
All crafting skills get the same benefits from refining.
- Chance to save some materials on craft
- Better GS, in things like trade goods you will get more trade goods per GS (3 instead of 2, for example). Equipment crafted supposedly has better stats on GS, I've refined and maxed all again but haven't tested all crafts. Things like cannons remain the same (R20 GS Master's Carro 16s max stats: 140 dura 1104 pen)

Statements about cooking and fire are false. Fire is not caused by low rank cooking, it is totally random and it's chance of happening is determined by 3 factors:
1. Sheer luck/random: You can be anywhere, anytime under any circumstances and ALWAYS you have a small % of your ship getting a fire, in some map areas (like cape of good hope) is more likely to get a fire.
2. Trade goods: Some goods are more likely to burn than others. Trade goods like spice, berries, and paper lanterns, among others, are prone to catch fire while sailing or sitting outside a port or at sea.
3. Sailor's skill: Sailors with low skill are likely to burn your ship, highly skilled sailors (max skill: 100 point) will never produce a fire on your ship.
Chances of reducing a fire can be cut above 90% if some conditions are meet but it's total prevention its imposible. Having sailors skilled with 100 points and having active aides' fire prevention skill (with aide store keeper trait 100) will help a lot but that doesn't make your ship immune to fire; you always will have a small chance of getting a fire.

Unlisted cooking skill boosting items:
Fruit Knife: +1 Cooking/Handicrafts weapon (trade-job only, and also the only weapon slot item in UWO to give that bonus; reward for completing "Exquisite Sweets of the World" MA - "it's very hard to do")
Ship Cook Shirt
Ship Cook Shirt: +1 Cooking (only body-equip in UWO to give that bonus; available to GAMA players as a random drop from the 10/25/2016 "Halloween Mystery Bottle" only)
Mysterious Spices - gives +5 cooking for 30 seconds. Can be purchased in the item shops of Lisbon, London, and Venice during an appropriate World Clock age, with a specific Adept of Ages title(s) equipped. .... or be produced through a complicated recipe that I suspect few people even use nowadays.

Refining seems to give on avg 20% more goods/food
While making seafood pizza, before refinement i was getting about 125 per 100 productions, and after was getting about 150 per 100.

This skill is a bit useless after the bonanza boxes, right?
Guilder02-19-2022
Not really.
1. It's often cheaper to craft your own food, particularly in regards to the foods needed for monthly donations (which are not available from boxes).
2. Aide food is useful for those that do not use grail items. As you would expect, it can be cheaper to craft it, or profitable to sell it.
3. New cooking recipes are coming in a future update with unique effects and benefits. ( tinyurl.com/UWO-7WondersBBart )
So as you can see, this skill remains useful even after the release of boxes.
bakabaka02-19-2022
well, i'll give a shoot. Just some 6 hours to refine it anyway

Nice, having the title "Chef meister" equiped reduce the vigour for cooking.

The Cooking skill is an absolute must-have for any player starting out in UWO. It’s incredibly useful for preparing vigor-restoring food, which is essential for long voyages and demanding explorations. By investing in this skill early, you can save a ton of money and stay self-sufficient during your adventures. Plus, crafting your own food adds a rewarding layer to the gameplay. Don’t set sail without it.
