I don't know... The Artificer job looks more useful to me. Much cheaper to switch, just as the Chef job making a great combo with it.
Then again, it's only my personal preference, and this one sure looks nice.

cheaper alternative to an alchemist grinding out seals of sorcery than changing back into alchemist job. May have some usefulness.

Small correction: this is not "the only job has medicine (trading) and cooking favoured together", Spice Trader job also favors those at the same time. It's cheaper to change into without a card as well. However, this is still a very good high-level job to have access to.

To get this job you dont need neither the merchandise skill or the medicine trader. I got the quest and the character i was using didnt have those skills. You only need fame. The quest is only deliver the medicine pot and is a comsumable, so nobody can stole it.
