Naoyasu

for this job quest u need r5 cooking nordic language helps but its not a needed-stockholm- procure food for soldiers.
however u need to deliver 'cod steamed in wine' x200 within 30 days to stockholm
easiest way to do this quest is to buy 'cod steamed in wine' from london tavern before u accept the quest - sail stockholm take quest deliver immediately

Just a tip here, if you don't have Nordic but do have QMP, buy translation notes from the Interpreter in Stockholm and then use the QMP. Also, if you don't have cooking R5, Mystery Spice would probably help. But definitely have the steamed cod already available. Otherwise you might have problems. By the way, steamed cod is a Cooking R5 recipe in North Sea Seafood.

The mediator is near of square.

I can't get this quest to come up. I'm in Stockholm and have cooking R7, 5600 total trade fame, nordic language, and the steamed cod in hand. I've burned through 25 qmp's and the Business Mediator won't cough up the quest.

Holfina

25 is nothing, keep burning them. :)

or sail to another port and back. works good

Natascha

You can also try fleeting with someone else who wants the quest. More people more chances.

Thanks everyone for the follow up posts. After spending the 25 qmp's, I burned another 10 and then gave up. I also tried the sailing to another port and back, and even tried a different quest to hopefully "please" the mediator. Didn't work and I sailed on without the Chef class. This was my first foray into quest-driven job changes. Now I realize why qmp's are hot commodities at the bazaar's. I thought 35 qmp's was a lot to spend for a quest, but apparently not.

Carla

prolly need more trade fame?
I'd have 30k++ trade fame, cooking R10, nordic
and the quest shows up only after 2 QMP

It is better to have 'merchant graduate' title to
it gives more quest assignment from bussiness mediator

First time I tried, it took 70 qmps to get it. I do believe that the more levels you have and the more fame you have, the easier it is to get quests.

i managed to get this quest with r1 cooking and using mysterious spices, got it first time, however ive since tried it with an alt with 50k trade fame r10+2 cooking and 20 qmp and failed to pull it - go figure...

Claudia

I just spent 3 qmp to get the quest ...

But my fame is about 30.000 +++ ,near 40.0000 ,

Total lv near 90 . ,

It quite easy thought ,,

U guys better try with 2 / 3 qmp's first ..

If there have no result of the quest , u better give up and try to accuire fame / leveling ,
And try again in stockholm..

I have Found that if you do four or five quests for the Mediator, it will take less Qmps, to get the Quest you want.

a Chef doesn't need observe, but collection/procurement means you spend time on land getting food so you may want to do some adventuring in these places. are you only going to be a chef and nothing else...
a Filibuster don't need to have cooking but its still favored

Lisa

Just got the license - funny, but it popped out for me at once, with no need for QMPs.
I personally think it's a great job. I mostly procure / collect / fish stuff I'm doing stuff out of, wherever possible. It means mostly no need for POs, port hops, whatevurs, and it even can get you quite decent adv points.
With this profession, doing so at cast away locations won't be an overkill neither for gathering skills, nor for the cooking / storage.

Why does this job have no livestock trading as flavourable skill, but does have the useless observe as flavourable skill?

AliBayan
01-01-2013
Ya, was samely wondering about the observe - what the hell... observe the alpacas? :)

Ming Mei

how much do i have to spend to change back to chef without the card?

Igor
01-20-2013
It's always 20 times the fee you pay when you have the card. In this case, 20x70K = 1.4M.

George

It's a good job, but I daresay not absolutely essential and, perhaps, not worth many 10s of QMPs. I reached r15 cooking and chef meister title all the way with animal trader. Appreciated the livestock trading skill. Didn't mind switching to fisher, storing loads of fish in my quarters, then switching back to animal trader to make vigour food out of them. There's one and only one r16 cooking recipe in game and I would already be able to execute it if I had the book thanks to ribbon or aide. I might or might not try getting this, or maybe better the patissier job at some point to work up to base r16 - just for completeness.

Actually George this is a fairly good job. Considering it has Fishing, Collect, Procure and Storage as fave skills you dont really have to change to other jobs to gather goods needed to make dishes.
I've found chef job great when Im in need of college credits because I change to chef and do the chicken/duck-egg-chicken thesis :)

George
01-21-2013
Well you don't really need chef job just to do the chicken-egg thesis. Both recipes are very low rank and don't help grind either cooking or storage after a while. So the tradeoff is 10s of QMPs that you could sell for 10s of millions or the hassle to change jobs every day. I took a day fishing in Syracuse with fisher job and FA college skills loaded until 999 tuna stored in my quarters, then changed to animal trader, made tuna steaks or used storage to produce fish and make fish and nuts (loads of berries also collected earlier or imported from farm). I guess it helped that my toon is french, so it's a short sail Syracuse - Marseilles to drop the fish and go back to fish more. I guess it would have been different if he was like dutch.

Anyway, I don't really disagree with you. It's a trade-off, people can choose which way to go.

As for Steamed Cod in wine - The tavern clerk in London sells this, usually in small quantities.

I got Nordic skill just in case. I changed to Food Trader and fished in the North Sea for a couple minutes. I had my steamed cod in wine in no time. It took me 9QMPS. I guess I'm not as lucky as others. Cooking r11. I'm still thrilled I got this license. I thought it was going to be harder.
