Perception of the artisan can be purchased from Venice item shop. Perception of the explorer is a reward from some quests. They have the same effect.

I'm not positive, but I think I've also seen the perception of the artisan elsewhere as well.

Nice, perception of artisan you can stack up as opposed to one item with just 10-20 uses from it.

I'm pretty confident Perception of Artisan is not sold anywhere but Venice, but I've gotten it (specifically it, not just another Observe-effect item) as a quest reward too at least once.

The intermediate adventurer school gave 4 perception of the artisan to me in one of the quests(from not having the skill).

IMO this is a bit as a waste of a skill slot as it only has a max rank of 1 and theres an item eqivelant so using thw item is exactly the same as using the skill, only the skill can be used an unlimited number of times. The item can be stacked up to 200 like all consumeables though, which can last a very long time

And if you feel like storing extra perceptions in a bank vault slot, you can have 999 in storage, plus 200 on your person. (I do this, as does a friend.)

I just realised that when one uses this skill (or Perception of.......) A small yellow star will appear indefinitely on the surveying map, until the player uses search, reco or ER skill. It may be a feature newly implemented or could have been there ages ago, but this feature removes the need to repeatedly click the skill or item if one does not see the yellow thingamajig visually on the ground.

The yellow star will only appear if you are close enough to the discovery location. Often when you use observe at the entrance of a landing point, you will not yet see the yellow star appear in the surveying map.

Update: The yellow star will also appear at sea while making discoveries. This makes it incredibly useful as it is the only way to determine the location on the discovery at sea, apart from playing hot and cold with the skill
