I heard you know alot about The Iliad. Well, this job is about finding something that relates to the heroes of the Trojan War, so it should be perfect for you! It's a pretty casual job, but if you're interested, go talk to a scholar in Athens.

1. I don't think it existed
The Iliad is a wonderful epic poem that is full of despair. It is bound to be a valuable resource for researching ancient Greece. However, it is difficult to imagine that heroes like Achilles or Hector really existed. Would you like me to help you if you find something in my religious studies library?

2. Hero of the battle of Troy
Many heroes participated in the series of battles with the allied forces of Troy and Greece. For Greece, the general commander was the King Mycenae of Agamemnon, who commanded Achilles, Odysseus and others. The general commander for Troy was Prince Hector. For reinforcements, the queen of Amazones and the king of Ethiopia joined the battles.

3. Consistant with real geography
Listening to this again, there are a few strange parts. There are very many actual place names used in Greek mythology. We hear stories that include places such as Mycenae and Ethiopia. Could it be that only Troy was made up? It might be a good idea to ask the Scholar in Istanbul.

4. A place corresponding to Troy
Troy? according to the Iliad and the Oddysey, geographically speaking, it would match the coastline of the Anatolian peninsula. There is no place remaining today with that name, but the Anatolian peninsula is rich in mineral resources. A large city or nation may have existed there. Investigate some books from my library.

5. Resources of the Anatolia Peninsula
As is understood from how the Hittites flourished, the Anatolian peninsula is rich in mineral resources. Land rich in resources would be a likely source of conflict regarding the rights to those resources. Especially for land containing mineral resources which can be used to make weapons. It was likely a scene of many battles during a time of many wars.

6. The world before ancient Greece
Little is known about things before the ancient Greek times, but guesses have been made. Because ancient Greece itself was a collection of city-states, it is thought that many states fought against each other and were engaged in constant battle. Because sailing technology had been developed, these battles probably covered great distances.

7. It is just a guess
But of course there is no clear historiacal record. However, it is unlikely that the Anatolian peninsula was completely peaceful. If you investigate around the Anatolian peninsula, you might be able to discover some evidence of Troy. If you were able to find the remains of the city of Troy, that would be a great discovery!

8. Did Troy exist
If Troy reallt did exist, it is thought that it would have lay on the Anatolian peninsula which spreads out opposite the east shore of Athens. It would be a wonderful discovery if you found city remains. Look for the place on the Anatolian peninsula where you can go on shore, and check carefully to see if you can proceed inland.

The remains of Troy, written about in Homer's Iliad. Also know as Ilium, it is said to have been sacked when the Greek army entered the city in a wooden horse.

Define "can't pull", how many QMPs did you go through? What are your relevant skill ranks? Obviously fame isn't the issue.

Confirmed: 13230 Adventure fame, all quest requirements(r8 Recognition, r10 Archaeology, r4 Theology)met with + items and Oxford boosts, Turkish language spoken - quest pulled with 3 QMP's.
Scrimshaw01-06-2017
For me it was a bit tough to pull the 1st time but nothing crazy. Trying to pull a 2nd time it wont show (so far anyway). Can anyone confirm if this is repeatable or not?
Will_Adams01-06-2017
Not repeatable. Also, cannot be pulled if you are fleeted to someone that's done it.
Guilder01-06-2017
As it is part of a quest chain, this quest cannot, to the best of my knowledge, be repeated after its completion... unless you lose the discovery card. As there is no ornament for Troy, the only other way to lose the card is through an official debate tournament (put it in your deck, and hope you lose), or, and this is the easier way, do a Treasure Hunt theme.
When Treasure Hunting, Discovery cards can be used when you are combining clues; when Troy's card appears, select it, and hope it's lost when successfully combining clue pieces. The higher the clue, IE, closer it is to Relic discovery, the more likely it is to consume the Discovery card from synthesis. Note that the pool of cards is randomly chosen and changes at various times (every hour on the hour, according to my testing), so don't expect it to happen right away. Every TH theme has different cards available at any given time, too, so if Troy isn't showing up for you while running Hidden Hero theme, switching to another theme could cause it to show up there. Not that this is exactly easy to do, of course... clues don't exactly grow on trees.
An anonymous player noted further: "Another way to loose the card is to present it to the city official in your colonial capital, or in Lima, in Ambon or in Ternate. But that is also iffy. You usually may get a limited selection of cards you may present, they change every day in a seemingly random way and there's no guarantee the one you want to get rid of will appear on the list soon, or ever. Loosing it through the treasure hunt clue combining process appears easier, at least the random list is longer and you don't need to travel in order to check :-)."
I went out of my way to lose the Troy card, as did some friends, and we've never regained it to be able to help others pull this quest when needed. Strangely, after losing the card, I could swear I've seen this quest pop up sometimes despite being fleeted with someone who's previously discovered it. Maybe I'm recalling incorrectly, though.

Thanks guys for the quick replies. I was already off to the races before I actually got to read your responses but I will recount my experience since my last post...
My adventure toon Scrimshaw had already done this chain, acquired the Archaeologist job, and never lost any of the discovery cards. I was trying to use his skill ranks to repeat this chain for my battle toon EL_NINO who met no requirements beyond the 1st quest. Nino pulled the 1st quest fleeted with Scrimshaw who then accepted and both did quest.
Getting to "Troy" I tried pulling it with Scrimshaw as Nino had no requirement met. 30+ QMPs, some port hopping and doing other quests and no luck. Finally I broke down and used an SQMP with NINO and it showed up on the 1st try despite missing all reqs by a long shot. My 2 idiots were fleeted when this happened. Scrimshaw appointed Nino admiral and was able to also accept the quest for his 2nd time.
By "Treasure of the Kings of Troy" I was out of QMPs, so resorted to port hopping between Athens and Alexandria, as it can show up at either place. After over an hour of this with no luck I broke down and used another SQMP with El Nino and got it on the 1st try. Once again despite being way short on the skill requirements. And still fleeted with Scrimshaw who had done the whole chain before. Once Nino accepted he was made admiral again and Scrimshaw was able to accept it also. The dream team then proceeded to complete the quest.
Now since Scrimshaw was able to do the whole chain a 2nd time does that mean he would have been able to actually pull the quests himself a 2nd time given enough time, luck, and QMPs? Does using SQMPs bend the normal rules? I really don't know but I can confirm it is repeatable at least if someone else pulls it, and the person pulling it can be fleeted with someone who already did it at least if using SQMPs if that makes a difference. I will add that in the same situation recently with "Legend of the Labyrinthos" I was informed about having the ornament made to get rid of the discovery card, which I then did (after failing numerous times to pull the quest), and it popped after only 2 or 3 QMPs.
Sorry for the crazy long post but realizing how frustrating (and expensive) it can get sometimes trying to pull certain quests I thought this info may help.
Guilder01-07-2017
Glad it worked out for you. I wish I knew if SQMPs broke the standard quest chain rule, or if the rule's even been relaxed in the case of some quests, but I'm afraid only the developers probably know that for sure.
As you've seen though, it is possible to repeat any quest in the game (assuming you've met pre-discovery/port permit requirements, if any exist), even quests that are part of a chain, as long as:
1. Someone else has pulled them, and is Admiral of your fleet
2. You have not just finished the quest
By #2, I mean if you just finished the "Treasures of the Kings of Troy" and reported it in Athens, then somebody in Athens (or anywhere else that quest spawns) tried to fleet with you as admiral and share the "Treasures of the Kings of Troy" quest with you, the game would not let you accept it until you reported another quest as complete.
Of course, if you'd reported first "Kings of Troy" and then a second quest complete immediately after it by using cultural contribution to run two quests at a time, you'd be set to do "Kings of Troy" again right away. It'd be the -other- quest you couldn't do again, until you reported something else in its place.
And no worries on the post. The DB is for sharing gameplay tips/insights, right? Cheers, and great online voyaging to you.
bakabaka02-23-2022
So, i got this quest with my main and got the archeologist job.
Now, somehow, i lose this disco card, but can not pull the quest again...
i spent over 400x qmps in the "search by area" thing, but it just don't pop up.
I really dont have the Hisarlik Hill disco with any toon, but i can change to the job with my main.
Guilder02-23-2022
One possible problem is that Marseille is a capital city. It has a lot of possible quests to generate and setting the regional search doesn't guarantee any fewer wrong quests will appear.
I believe this quest is also considered to be "rare", meaning its appearance is a low probability. As long as it was not the last quest you did on your main (you cannot run the same quest twice in a row), it should appear again eventually. Having the listed skill ranks (boost equipment is okay) may increase its likelihood of appearing.
Lastly, using a
Letter of Appreciation from Seafarers item and selecting Job Endorsement can let you obtain the job card from a specific NPC without running the quest, if that is your goal. You can check job pages or cards to see if there's a list in that case.
Gudebuddha02-23-2022
Have you checked that you have the "Iliad" Discovery from the quest before? Maybe you got the Archaeology job card from an NPC, the way Guilder said, and never did the questchain?
Otherwise doing other quests with the oxford skill
Hide Completed Quests will raise the chance to get a rare quest in Marseille.
