Yup. But once you have discovered Oxford, you can turn things in and do new ones at the Scholar. But you have to visit Oxford to unlock new research, however, so it's best to hang around until you've unlocked all you want to unlock.

fcb this is oxford an inland city that is accessed via a carriage in london
you take missions *, **, ***, **** completing these missions gives you credits and 'special skills'
eventually upto 5 at a time running automatically (no vigour used)

registering the skills for use requires that you have enough credits (some skills need 15k credits to register)

now if you would like to know more i suggest you go to london and ride the carriage and enroll in oxford and discover yourself what everybody else is doing at exactly the same time as you with as much information as you have...

If you notice the numbers under the picture that's denote how much total credits you need to earn to unlock the next slot. And you don't need to have that many on you for it to count, i know i had only 1200 form the last research i did before i got it to pop up 5th one.

As soon as you have any skill above r2, you should always be doing some kind of college thesis that's related to what you're doing, even if it's just a sailing around one. It takes something like 50k accumulated thesis points to get all 5 college skills so the sooner you get started on it the better.

until your skills reach the required levels you won't have anything available to study.

One of the available theses is available after 60 submissions, the rest of them require r11 skill level in whatever skill is pertinent to that thesis. For instance, Basic Prod. Tech 3 requires r11 skill level in any one of the basic production skills (cooking, sewing, casting, storage, or handicraft).

the thesis > the proper way to interact with people at meals. the way to get profiency in this is to eat a full course meal that will give off a special effect.. like > at lisbon if u eat a full course meal of all pork meat and drink like rum there is a high chance of setting off the special effect of upping crew's loyalty. thats what it means by delicious the meal must activate some kind of special effect... College skill slots are based on total cumulative credits earned. The numbers are even posted above:

2개 : 1000~
3개 : 5000~
4개 : 20000~
5개 : 50000~

You CAN spend the credits, you just have to have earned them since starting the college.

like this : one person has 20k free credits and 2 skills : Increase Production Success Rate 4 (10k credit) + Item Improvement Techniques(IIT) (10k) , that person had Successful Plundering 2 (10k) but dropped it for IIT . So she/he earned 50k credits but total credits is only 40k

Romanovska, it doesn't matter how often you drop one skill for another, every credit earned counts toward the 50k total needed for the 5th slot. Your response is incorrect. What you spend credits on has nothing to do with your cumulative total.

ok , have a girl named me , who has 21k free credits now , i have Gunnery aid 4,3,2 (12k total) and Ship Speed Up 4 (3500 credits) so , i have 36.5k credits total now . i dropped Increase Production Success Rate 4,3,2 and 1 at least one time and Guild Recognition (15k) one time , and i have 4 skill slots now , so ... you want me think it doesn;t matter ? more of it , when i have the 4th skill slots , my total credits is 20k , not included alot skills i dropped (including 1 Increase Production Success Rate 3)

What do you mean by "now", are you saying that at one time you had the 5th slot and lost it? I don't believe that is possible.

I can tell you that I had much less than 50k in free and "in use" credits when I got my 5th slot, which was months ago now. I used to change active skills a lot.

You need to talk to the professor many timed, not just once. How far you are in the "story line" along with submissions determines which schools and which skills open up. The same is true for slots, with the additional requirements of points. If you have the points, but haven't progessed the story, you won't get the slots (or skills).

Land Survey Qualification Checklist (as determined via OGP site data and fellow adventurers' findings):

Graduate Intermediate School in Adventure, Trade, or Battle; visit Mercator in Amsterdam and begin World Atlas quest (Charting of North Sea required; cannot be done until Intermediate Course graduation... obviously)
Complete Legend of the Labyrinthos
Unlock East Asia Port Permits; obtain first four Northeast Passage Arctic Port Permits via Mercator (EA Permits and charted North Sea required... obviously)

These steps can be done in any order you please, unless otherwise noted. Once all the aforementioned tasks are met, visit the Professor in Oxford and accept the Land Surveying quest from him; charting of West Candia AND Inner Crete are mandatory. Afterward, return to Oxford, and you can now chart land zones in any order you like. This also opens up access to the Atlantis chain, beginning with the quest, "Land of the Legendary King"...

Since the Professor's already telling you to discover ruins near Candia, the Knossos Palace discovery quest is probably all you need at this point. Recognition, Collection, Surveying and to a certain degree, Procurement skills (or items that mimic them) WILL be required for land charting. It goes a lot faster if you can work with friends, or at least an alt. I find having the skills (especially Collection) works better in the long run than continually having to restock items, but YMMV.

Apparently you need to have First Aid, Surgery, or Rescue skill at R2; the next time you speak to the Professor at Oxford once those conditions are met, the thesis should be unlocked. If that doesn't work, let us know. Cheers.

You can equip 5 Oxford skills at once you unlock more by acquiring credits. To unlock the additional slots you must have the required credits saved up and unused on your character this the only way to unlock the slots. The required amounts are below.

1 skill unlocked at start
2 skills at 1000 credits
3 skills at 5000 credits
4 skills at 20000 credits
5 skills at 50000 credits

I've got my 4th slot skill after returning a 300 credits research.
At this moment, there were 14352 credits on me and I've consumed 5850 credits already.
5850 + 14352 = 20202 so I think that total credits earned matter for skill slot unlock.

The Ship Repair Tech 2 thesis that gives the Efficient Ship Construction college skill (50% build time reduction) needs 25 Thesis submissions and r7 in SB, Repair, Fire Fighting. Needs 1000 research pts to complete with each repair providing 5pts and each ship build providing 100 pts.

Juicebox comment is incorrect, you do not have to have those unused. Pretty sure you need to advance to almost the end / graduate before you can unlock 5th slot tho.

Submissions: the total number of ANY completed thesis you turn in. So if it says 5, pick a thesis of choice (one that is fast preferably) and complete it 5 times. After that, the research which said 5 should appear.

However, other conditions may also be required: ONE of the listed skill ranks must be met, and sometimes you must progress through story events to access additional research.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask here, UWO's World Chat (General or Beginners channels are best). You can ask here as well, but you're more likely to get a more immediate and often-times greater in-depth response in UWO.
