Exactly as description of skill says: Steady hauling of a shipwreck. This means NO rope-break issues. EVER.
Sailing Speed increases when used together with hauling skill: You will notice that you have a slight increase in overall speed when hauling a wreck with this and haul skill active. However, the difference is barely noticeable. One drawback is that your haul skill will not rank up when used in conjunction with Hauling assistance. If you plan to do many shipwrecks, get a boat with this, drop Haul skill and don't ever worry about haul ropes, either.

Yup. Also, haul skill, if you have it, won't rank up when hauling sw with a boat that has this ship skill.

If you're helping someone tow a wreck and you have this skill on your ship, can your friend leech the skill?

since it is a ship skill, not a char skill, no. besides, when using it for hauling a personal wreck, it becomes active only if u have it on your main ship (no your aide's). However, if u r in a fleet, helping a friend to tow his/her wreck, this ship skill increases the effectiveness of your haul skill (if u use hauling rope, no such effect can be gained).

I heard that you do get prof if you use Haul with Hauling Assistance, but greatly reduced. So i tested how greatly exactly.

Without Hauling Assistance i got 8 Haul prof each sail day (Rank7 Haul)
With Hauling Assistance i got 1 Haul prof every 5 sail days.

So it could just be 0, would make no meaningful difference. :)

On a side note, i got 4 Haul prof with each "assisted in hauling" chat msg when i assistet someone in Hauling, no matter if i was in a ship with Hauling Assistances or not.
When i was in a Ship with Hauling Assistance my alts with haul got no prof. (at least not in the 20 minutes i sailed up and down the Indian Ocean before i gave up)
