You can improve anyship using a Teak Paneling to make it Teak Hulled Ship. But that's after East Asian Update.

My aid uses this ship and I was wondering, if I upgrade this ship (sails, WR, maybe galley and/or workshop) do I have acces to those skills while sailing? And will my acceleration/top speed be better if I upgrade the sails and WR?

A ship built by a player ship builder will always be better than what you can buy at the shipyard. A ship built by a high rank ship builder will be a LOT better.

Although, if you have one that was built by a shipyard or lower rank builder, a high rank builder can adjust the distribution and essentially make it as if they built it in the first place.

By doing a mod round, with SSIPs and parts. It'd be a lot cheaper to just buy an r20 one, unless you need one with a ship skill.

You can't just adjust volume without doing a mod round.

Its rare or maybe none for someone to mod a TLG to 4/5 or 5/5 as this is mainly used for cargo purposes only 920+ r20 (dungeon, nanban, prod).

I can build this in London with r13 SB, so I guess they lower ranks. I can build Vaisseau too wich was r14 before. If someone know where to find new ranks it would be appreciated.

This is one of the absolute best value battle grind non-nc ships

to elaborate:
44 trade is not hard to get. 20 battle isn't either. Compared to its battle-type sister, which requires 44 battle, which in turn will take considerably longer to achieve.

I've made mine iron plated with Heavy Bombing original, adjutants cabin and improved hold optional. Kept reducing hold size every mod round without penalty. Rebuilt it to G1 with added broadside addition. Currently it's at 3/5 and I've managed to fend off 5 player pirate attacks in a row without making port thanks to heavy bombing, the second pirate being Heisenberg. All of them sailed maxed NC galleys. They finally managed to take me down 2 vs 1!

Thanks to the hold reduction its not much slower then any other battle type cannon grinder, has similar firepower thanks to the added broadside. In general, it operates as a non-nc Vaisseau G0 1/5, but with 32 less battle levels required.

Oh and don't forget this can actually go 7/7 at colony, so when fully modded it's a beast just without real battle skills.

Can you share your modding details ? It seems to be a very interesting build with the HB original skill. What are you going to spend all the 7 optional skills on and is it worth so much money and time putting into 7/7 + HB or is it better to spend cash elsewhere ?

Another thing is how do you balance making it battle hardy vs. carrying lots of trade goods vs. being fast ?

Also, what types of cannons and cannon tactics would be most effective when using with HB ? Do you directly sail straight for the end of the ring and activate HB and use stern/bow turrets or do you try to use broadside abit and quickly sail for the ring ?

@mois I've made you the basic outline, looks like this:

for cannons I've started grinding accuracy and arms skill with rapid fire 14/16's. Easy to make and not high casing skill required.

Later I've started using carro 14/16 as my casting skill improved, because of it's higher burst (more likely to slow with HB) and range compared to the rapid fires

as to if it's worth your money to get it to 7/7, I think probably not. But that does depend on what you want to do with it. As I said, I use it to grind battle levels. It's not a high end warship, it will never be good enough to join ESF. It might however be a very good bounty hunter ship. It doesn't scare pirate's away, since all they see is "TLG". That usually equals easy, slow prey. They don't expect it to be armed to the teeth with carro 16's and Heavy Bombing. In my opinion this ship is much better then (armed) Indiaman for that purpose.

as for tactics: I like using cheap, expendable or renewable stuff. Usually I go grinding with this setup:

5 x masters carro 16 (80 total cannons)
1 x bow carro
1 x stern carro
2 x Extra Large Sterncastle (+6)
3 x Weathered live oak plate
1 x fafnir or dragon figurehead

You can take on most fleets in Carib, India and SEA, except from a few of the harder quest fleets. I have not managed to succesfully solo the Galleon fleets near Latin America, they have too high level penetration and cause flooding as well.

Try to focus a single ship with HB. Eventually it will get damaged sails and masts and fall behind. Circle the battlefield while being chased, and then make a close hit and run on that singled ship. Repeat until the flagship remains, and either melee it once it's in disorder status, or just destroy it with cannons. No matter what people say about HB as a skill: it works on NPC's just as much as on players.

Don't try to melee those fleets tho; you'll likely get disorder from being bombarded and will have no time to clear it before next melee round starts. I've you get locked down in melee, you'll probably lose the battle.

what rank do I need to build this ship? I'm not joking but I saw a lot of ships here in the db that don't show the real rank... as an example there is a Refitted Heavy Carrack it says rank 11 but I can build it with Rank 6 + 2

A lot of ships have had their SB rank needed to build it lowered, and the DB in Ivyro hasn't been updated to reflect that. Large Galleons for instance (like this one) only requires R8 to build them now. Also, they can be built pretty much anywhere in Europe, not just in Seville as the Build Ship info states.
