Only been attacked twice since having this skill and both times the pirates failed to plunder after melee all I lost was battle fame. I can't say if its just this skill or having r12 storage has helped too prevent the plunder, but I would recommend this skill

1. Original Ship Skills on an aide ships will only work if you call your aide into battle, and even then it only works on certain skills (mostly battle related skills), and Improved Hold isn't one of them.

2. Yes, while it will protect 100% of your cargo hold, it only has a 1 in 3 chance of being activated so it does NOT always work if your being pirated (Starting in Gran Atlas however, Improved Hold, along with Camouflaged Hold, will always work). I'm also not sure if Pillage Order can be used to override it.

So if this and Camo Hold will always work against plunder and PO's now only work on NPCs, that makes this and Camo hold a little OP, doesn't it? Also, if that's the case, what would be the difference between this and Camo Hold anyway?

Camo hold protects about 1/3rd of your cargo hold whereas Improved Hold protects ALL of your cargo.

From now on this skill will always activate thanks to the Gran Atlas update, and its effect is restricted to trade goods only :)

To be specific, this ship skill was itself 'improved' (buffed if you prefer) in October 2017. Quote: "It can now also protect your equipment and ship parts from plundering at a certain rate on top of Trade Goods."

So it's a pretty good skill to have for traders, if you plan to risk lawless waters or hostile ones without PVP tributes while hauling lots of trade goods and if you have plunderable equipment/parts. Cheers.
