1. 황무지에 잠시 멈추어 선 동물
아, 본 적 있지. 황무지 안쪽의 조금 높은 곳에서 말야, 두 발로 서서 이쪽을 가만히 보고 있더라구. 크기는 고양이 정도였지 아마. 그러고 보니 도구점 아저씨도 본 적이 있다는군.

2. 지면에서 기어나온 동물
네, 카리비브에서 육로로 돌아오는 길이었는데요. 땅 속에서 기어나와 두 발로 서서 울고 있었어요. 야옹하고 울지는 않았으니 고양이는 아닐텐데, 얼굴이 까만게 기분 나쁘게 생겨서…. 가까이에서는 도저히….

3. 두 다리로 감시하는 동물
두 발로 서 있었던 것은 아마 감시하기 위해서겠지. 작고 무해한 동물이라고 여겨진다. 카리비브와의 사이에 있는 모양이니까 상륙해서 남동쪽 뾰족바위 부근을 중심으로 찾아보자.
