1. An oddly balanced work
It seems even the genius Michelangelo made mistake when he was young. There is a piece by him when he was 25 years old, called Pieta.
Mary should have been old by the time Jesus was executed, but in the picture, Mary is young and is larger than Jesus.

2. Interpretation
Whoever said that knows nothing about art. True, Mary is young and bigger than Jesus. But that's a representation of her motherhood.
If Jesus was bigger, it won't be an expression of her sorrow. Go to the church in Naples and witness the genius for yourself.

3. Someone a little different from the norm
Michelangelo's genius was apparent even at a young age. I should go see the Pieta at the church in Naples.
It should be located near the altar.
