Strictly speaking, its a waste of a ship skill slot, since aides also have wave dmg prevention skill.
I heard that it increase wave resistance (hidden value) but not sure about that one

Do waves affect ship hauling or something? I see the tow cutter has it as an optional skill.

well from what i hear GAMA server doesn't have fully implemented seafaring rules like the other servers. A lot of these skills that are currently useless will have much more of an affect to gameplay once we're 100% up and running (EA, full level unlocks, full dev unlocks)

well in the event that you are hit by broadside wave/ high wave your ship will stop/slow down or be pushed off course so in avoiding these incidents it will save a little time but thats all...

just means you you have reduced probability of being affected adversely by these incidents...

There appears to be some confusion about what this ship skill does. Well, when you sail into an area where the waves are higher then your ships Wave Resistance (WR), there's a chance you're be hit by a broadside wave. Having this ship skill protects you 90% of the time from that happening. Hiring an aide with the Breakwater skill also does the same thing, as well as naturally increasing your ships WR through modding. It does NOT give a hidden bonus value to your ships WR, nor does it boost your acceleration or top speed.
