It was you who reported on the moonstone that looks like a rainbow and the red opal that looks like a shimmering flame when seen from the sea... I have a request that involves your knowledge of precious stones. It involves an investigation into a stone that looks like a shining star floating in the night sky. The client is the Market Keeper. Black opal
The base colours of the two opal you found were blue and red, right? Well, the one I want you to research this time is the black opal that can be found on the continent to the south. Opal changes colours depending on the angle you look at it from, but I've never seen a completely black one before. They could be worth a lot of money!

A once in a lifetime business opportunity?
I heard this information about black opal at the Tavern. The Barkeep and Parlati were there too so you could try asking them about it as well. If I could get a black opal here in my shop I'm sure it would bring in a huge number of customers. This is my chance to make it big. I'm counting on ya!

                        Persuasive words
You must be talking about the black gemstone that a sailor that came through here was talking about after he came back from the continent to the south of here. Supposedly when the light shines on it the stone reflects the light in such a way that it looks as though you're staring up at a starry night sky... I don't know, what did you think about that story Parlati?

                        I don't believe it, but...
If such a gemstone really exists it really would be a sight to see. I get chills of excitement just thinking about it! But that sailor would only talk to us about it; he never showed us the real thing. So, I'm not sure if I believe it or not. I think he said he mainly operates out of the town of Kakadu on the continent to the south.

                        Seen for the first time
A black, sparkling stone...? Hmm, I think I remember a sailor that came through here the other day talking about something like that. That's the first time I've seen such a thing. He said he found it far to the south-east from here. ...Yes, like I said that's the first time I've ever seen something like that. There are so many tribes around here and we don't do a lot of trading so we never get to see many items from far away lands.

I've been waiting for you to be in town
Yes, he actually showed me the stone when I talked to him. Hm? What happened after that? I believe he said he was going to survey the desert to the west of here. He was staying at the Rest Area here in town. Maybe the owner could give you some more details.

Find the same pearl to the west
Oh, the sailor with the black stone, eh? I think he said he was going to try and find another one in the desert to the west of here. I tried to tell him he'd be better off looking in the mountains to the east instead of to the west. There's nothing but sand over that way! But, he wouldn't listen... After looking at the stone myself I could see why you'd want to find another one though that's for sure.

                        ""Endless black, infinite stars""
That stone was like a clear, dark and starry night... One star would sparkle only to fade, followed by another one somewhere else in the distance. It truly was a beautiful thing to see. I remember him saying that it was like the stone contained an eternal night sky of perpetual stars...

                        Find the pitch-black opal
The opal I was requested to find seems to only be found in a small portion of the southern continent. I get the feeling that having such a stone on display at the market in Calicut is close to impossible... There is a chance that the sailor that discovered the opal travelled to the west after showing the townspeople in Kakadu. I may be able to track him down if I go look for him.

Black opals found only in Australia. The land is black, creating even more contrast between the hues and colours. Its beauty is like a moonless night filled with shining stars; it makes you feel as though you're being pulled into the sky, all alone on a moonless night.
