                              정규의 십자군도 잘은 모르겠네. 사자왕이라던가 살라딘의 이름은 들은 적이 있지만. 이곳에 뭔가 단서가 있다고 해도 도시관리들이나 알고 있지 않을까. 한 번 가서 물어보게.

                              2. 그다지 화제에 오르지 않는 십자군
                              민중 십자군이라는 거야. 인솔하던 피에르라는 수도사가 이 부근에서 설교를 시작했다는군. 하지만 자세한 것은 모르겠네. 아무래도 뭔가 알려지기를 꺼리는 사정이 있는 모양이야. 암스테르담의 교회에서 목사에게 물어보게.

                              3. 대실패로 끝난 십자군
                              민중 십자군말입니까…. 카톨릭의 신자들로서는 오점이라고 할 수밖에 없겠지요. 교황의 선동으로 민중이 열광한 결과지만요. 군을 포함한 수만 명이 은자 피에르를 따라 성지를 되찾으려고 떠났지만 비참한 결말로 끝났습니다. 이곳의 서고에서 조사해 보십시요.

                              4. 민중 십자군의 최후
                              은자 피에르를 따른 수만 명의 사람들은 칼레를 경유하여 육로를 따라 약탈을 반복하며 예루살렘을 향했다. 거의 폭도로 변해가던 민중 십자군은 터키군의 손에 허망하게 파멸되었다. 피에르는 원군을 청하러 간 채 돌아오지 않았다고 한다.

                              5. 피에르의 발자취
                              은자 피에르를 이끄는 민중 십자군은 칼레를 경유했다고 한다. 그렇다면 칼레의 교회에 뭔가 남겨져 있을지도 모른다. 좌석의 뒤쪽 오른편부터 조사해보자.
