            Initiating battles in this way, allows you to thoroughly ready many things such as location, preparation, and your own attitude.
            In other words, initiating a battle gives you a wealth of advantages.
            Likewise, if you are not the one initiating a battle, you will often be at a steep disadvantage.
            That is when the true worth of a military man will be tested.

              In regards to sea-faring battles, it would likely be most helpful for you to hear about them from a seafarer who's had many years of experience.

                                            Listen up. There are some people out there who can sneak a ship up next to you without making a sound. And you can't see their ships at all, no matter how hard you try!
                                            This means you only find out they were targeting you after you've already been attacked.
                                            Once they attack you, you'll quickly decide whether to stay and fight, or whether to run... That's about all I have to say. Good luck becoming a Voyager!

                                              It looks like you heard about the pirates who can sneak up next to you without making a sound.
                                              But, you won't know what that's really like until you experience it for yourself.
                                              To that end, I have readied a practice ship controlled by someone who can do that in this city's bay. Head out from this city and go straight without turning the rudder at all, and you should find yourself being attacked out of nowhere. Your goal for this lesson is to win that battle.
                                              Once you complete it, report to the maritime affairs curriculum teacher.
                                              All right then, once you're ready, head for the bay.
