      ...Ah! Player, Alvero!
      • 1818
      • Steward
        Oh, young master!
        • 1819
        • Alvero
          We're all back safely.
          • 1820
          • Alvero
Hayreddin got away but honestly, all having come back alive from that situation is success enough, I think.
            • 1821
            • Juan
Making it back safely is what counts, certainly!
              • 1822
              • Alvero
Still, if you knew everything that was going on, you could have told me...! At least some of it!
                • 1823
                • Steward
My most humble apologies, young master.
The master ordered me strictly to say nothing of it to try and guarantee success.
It was difficult for me, too, I assure you! Knowing of your worries and yet being unable to say anything to reassure you...
                  • 1824
                  • Alvero
...I know, I know! Right then, Player.
Now we have one of the co-conspirators in front of us, let's find out all we can from him!

                    • Steward
Ah! Young master, I knew you would make it back safely!

                      • Juan
I'm so glad you are all safe.
                        I was so worried...!

                        • Alvero
There's still lots of stuff we don't understand.
Let's take this chance to find out the truth.
                          • 1828
                          • Steward
What do you want me to tell you?
                            • 1829
                            • What do you want to ask?
                              • 1830
                              • Why join with the Duke of Alba?
                                • 1831
                                • Why collude with Hayreddin?
                                  • 1832
                                  • Alvero
Spain have been our rivals in attempting to reach India.
Why did my father feel he had to join forces with the Spanish armada, then? Portugal has its own Navy, doesn't it?
                                    • 1833
                                    • Steward
...Yes, but they wouldn't be much help against Hayreddin.
Our country is based on trade.
Even the Navy are afraid of Hayreddin, and were even unwilling to send troops to recover one of the royal family when they were taken hostage.

                                      • Alvero
So he used the pepper to get close to the Duke of Alba, commander of the greatest armada in the world...
                                        • 1835
                                        • Steward
                                          That is correct.
                                          • 1836
                                          • Steward
That was to get him to drop his guard to get close to him.
Hayreddin is highly paranoid, keeping only his best men close to him.
For the last few years he has been intent on becoming the true emperor of North Africa.
However, a pirate can never hope to gather the kind of manpower required to take an entire country.
                                            • 1837
                                            • Alvero
...So my father offered his support?
                                              • 1838
                                              • Steward
                                                That is correct.
The master also said he would mediate a peace treaty between Hayreddin and the Duke of Alba.
That was enough to even make Hayreddin trust him, and he agreed to the meeting in the Palma offing.
                                                • 1839
                                                • Juan
Huh, that's all a little hard for me to understand...
But the gist of it is that Alvero's father was working to defeat the pirates all along, right?
                                                  • 1840
                                                  • Alvero
The pepper monopoly, giving it to the Spanish was all to create a stage to defeat Hayreddin.
Although his methods were different from Baltazar's, my father has been continuing the fight...

...Hey, looks like my father's back.

                                                        (Huh...? Has Baltazar left?)

master, welcome back! Safe and sound, thank goodness.
This is how it should be...
