Ambon or Ternate needs to be in Central Capital status for the map to show up. That means we need at least 40000/40000/40000 in one of the two cities.

Anyone know what it means when the words "Central Capital" appear over the requirements for this map> I have the Iwami Ginzan Mine discovery, the development level of Run is 70k, and i have Search/Appraisal;/Unlock all at r14, yet after 7 headache Meds i still haven't gotten the map. Any help would be greatly Appreciated

to see actual values, try to present a discovery to city official, or donate to shopkeeper. In that new window actual points are displayed.


That's taken from an East Coast of Latin America map comment section, no idea if it holds true for SEA, or needs different values for out there.

Thank-you LiYue, that was very helpful. My next question then is how does one raise each of these 3 (Culture/Trade/Maritime)? Culture via presenting discoveries I would guess and Trade via doing Supply Item with the Shopkeeper, but not quite sure how to raise the Maratime level of these cities.

Ok, Central Capital status requirements met after 3 days of running "Jewelry Cut-Red" books, stats are as follows for Ambon: Culture Level- 48117, Commerce Level- 40221, Armament Level - 41128. Yet, even though I have all the pre-discoveries needed that are listed here in ivyro, and have more than all the skill ranks needed, including the Assesment Skills, why, after 27 tries, have I gotten none of the maps that are shown as needing "Central Capital" status to pop? Is it possible that we don't get any of these maps on the GAMA server? If so, then that sucks worse than anything I've encountered so far in UWO.

The status changes every week, so if you reached a enough level at the end of this week, only then it changes. I think you need to wait till next week Monday for Ambon to switch to central capital.

It should be easy to see the status from the layout/looks inside Ambon. Is it still looking like before?

Yeah, no kidding.....like the Tatara Furnace map that gets you this book as a reward, the Shipwreck route map that gives the black Broad Felt Hat as a reward, the Explorers notes map that gives the Round Beret as a reward, the Treasure map that gives the Caterina Dress as a reward and the Caravan record map that gives the black Lace Gloves as a reward....but mostly, the Tatara furnace map, this book has been sought after by many for a very long time. And yes, MANY kudos to those that worked at this for the last 4+ years, and if anyone knows how to contact Stinker outside game channels, perhaps let him know about this, I think he'd want to know. :^)

Is it possible that it's the Development that's the issue? When they released Grand Atlas, the Deleopment cap was raised from 70k to an unknown (by me) ammount. The current Development in Ambon is 76237.

I just noticed something, if you go to your charts and select SouthEast Asia and select The Banda Sea and click Details and then select Ambon as the city it says it's an Academic Capital. It shouldn't be an Academic Capital right now... Let me do some research...

Hmmm, it can't be the Development cap being changed, that has nothing to do with Central Capital status, besides, it was supposedly fesable to do for Ambon and Ternate when the development caps were as low as 60k, like with the Caribbean cities and Lima. What I'm wondering is, is it possible that the 3 levels(Culture, Commerce and Armament) are higher for Ambon and Ternate to achieve Central Capital status, ie: 50k. If anyone has information regarding this, from say, one of the Asian servers, please post here or contact me in-game. Thanks.

Well, here's one JP info source, up to date as recently as Atlantis chapter 1:

Google translated, one section says "The determination of the city of change is carried out on Monday at 11:00 every week. Each settlement is the town that overall value meets certain conditions of "cultural level", "commercial level," "armed level" is "central city". All three 40000 more than a condition."

Sounds kind of like Destry's comment about checking next Monday is verified, but feel free to check for yourself, and if anybody else has more definitive information, please do share it.

I hear that Ambon has finally hit Central Capital status. If true, a lot of archive maps, including this one (if you've made the occasional required discovery) should now be available. Happy archive diving.

For those of you who think "This is just another Casting recipe book that anyone can get, why should it be so expensive?" here's why: A) There's a 3 pre-discovery quest chain involved before you can even pull the Tatara furnace map that gets you this book, 1- "Adventurers Bible" quest(Search r1 and Dutch requreiments) from any of the 6 Starter Cities that gets the discovery "The Travels of Marco Polo", 2- "There lies the emperor's mountain" quest(Recognition r9 , Geography r11 and Quechuan required) from Seville that goes to Northeast Lima for the discovery "Potosi Silver Mine", and 3- "Ore deposit to the east" quest(Recognition r7, Geography r9 and Japanese required) from Seville that goes to the Eastern East Asia landing point for the discovery "Iwami Ginzan Mine", so, quite a few hours of sailing and skill ranking is required just to be able to get to the point where you can even attempt to get the map. B) It requires r14 Search and Unlock to pull and do this map, and it's recommended you have r14 Appraisal when trying to pull it as well. For anyone that does Adventure stuff, you know how hard it is to hit Unlock r14, let alone with r14 Search and Appraisal at the same time. As well, this map is very hard to pull, even if you meet all the requirements, I used 32 Headache Meds to get 2 copies of the map, 26 just to get my first one. All too often I see non-adventure types, particularly battle types, who want to pay some almost broke Adventurer minimum ducats for an item that took several hours of time and quite a few ducats both getting the item and ranking the skills needed to get it. Remember folks, without Adventurers, there would be no Excaliburs, Gae Bulgs, or Making Practical Japanese Armour 2 books. Please try to keep that in mind next time you want to underpay an Adventurer for their time and effort for an item you want to buy from one of them.

Im adventurer too (r16 apraisal & r14 unlock) but still it seems too expensive to pay so much money for this. The helmets arent any extra skills and only have a maximum of 20 defense.

Seems a bit much to me, too. I got no problem with us adventurers being paid for our time and trouble, but still... well, I'm guessing the value of the book will probably decrease as more of them enter the market, like every other item in the game.
