        No.15002

        The Ancient Cliff
        No Expiration
        Stockholm Adventurer's Guild
You happen to know a place where strange stones turn up? You know, stones like the ones you found that look like a lizards or dragons. It seems there's a place where there's a lot of 'em. Why not look into it? It'd be a shame to keep the scholar in London waiting any longer.

                          The Cliff's Composition
The place is on the new continent, but it appears to be no more than a cliff to the naked eye. Some of the rocks from there that were taken back to Europe by a geologist appear to have been the spitting image of plants that had been petrified... It could be that something on the cliff itself is responsible.

                          Rocks with an Uncanny Resemblance
Among the rocks you discovered before that resemble lizards and dragons were also things that look like fish. Those may perhaps be ancient creatures that were somehow petrified and preserved in a way that has allowed them to exist unharmed up until the present.

                          Prior to Petrification
If we study those stones, we may be able to explain what kind of ancient creatures they were, how and where they lived...and how they came to be petrified. A place where a lot of stones like these can be excavated.... That's what I would like you to investigate.

                          The Problematic Site
The site is located on the continent north of the Caribbean Sea, but from here in London, it appears to be almost due west. It is really far from the Azores, but it shouldn't be a problem for a capable voyager such as yourself. If you are wondering about a place near the cliff where you would be able to land, a careful search of the coast of the continent may lead you to what you are looking for.

                          To the Petrified Creatures
Things that resemble petrified creatures have long been excavated, but there appears to be a place with particularly large quantities of them. Our target is the North American east coast, which can be reached by leaving port from here and sailing straight across the Atlantic Ocean to the continent on the other side. Depart as soon as preparations have been made.

Cliffs where one can see numerous strange stones. It used to look like a regular stone cliff, but the tide eroded it to reveal the numerous petrified animals.
