1. Faith in the god Shiva
A temple dedicated to Shiva? Shiva is one of the major three gods of Hinduism, along with Vishnu the god of preservation, and Brahma the god of creation. The town of Calicut has a temple, so i suggest to ask the people there..

2. Shiva, god of destruction
Shiva holds the position of god of destruction in Hindu mythology. He is feared at times as a terrible god, but he may also revive destroyed worlds. He is also famous for having a great number of names. You may want to ask a scholar？

3. God also called one thousand
Shiva has many names. Hari the destroyer, Mahakara the great darkness, Nataraja the king of dance, Bairaja the feared, Sharbesha the winged lion, Pashpati the king of beast, and so on. It is said that he has over a thousand names. As for temples dedicated to him.

4. Temple with the Vimana
...There are records to show Rajaraja 1 of Chola dynasty built the temple to honour Shiva. It may have symbolised the wealth and power of Chola dynasty. I've heard that there is a temple with a large hall known as Vimana at Tanjavur district. It may be worth exploring..

It seems the temple honouring Shiva is in Tanjavur distruct and can be reached from the south of Pondicherry. Let's go out of the town gates and head for it.
