1. A long face and long tongue
Although it's just my opinion that the animal eats the same thing, but if you listen to me I'm sure you'll agree. It has a long narrow tongue which it inserts into the insect nest and licks the insects from inside the nest. Also, at the nest of the same insect...

2. Threat
I approached it as I was curious, but it suddenly sat up and took an aggressive stance against me. I wasn't scared as it was rather small but it had sharp claws. As any injury will affect my work, I just gave up and returned. The nest was near the giant dead tree east of the mouth of the Amazon.

3. It was an ant's nest
...there's the ant's nest. The animal was eating ants. They're the same footprints as near other ant hills. As the shipwright said, it may be eating only the ants.
