  Gradenigo demanded that Alvise and the others disarm and leave Jaffa.
  Alvise was furious and asked how Gradenigo could explain such an act to Faisal when he returned, to which Gradenigo simply laughed.
  While Alvise was fighting in battle, he had been negotiating a peace treaty with Turkey, during which, the Sultan had said that he wished to obtain the Sword of the Caliph by any means necessary.
  So Gradenigo secretly negotiated with the Bedouin leaders that if Faisal were to obtain the sword, they were to kill him and steal it from him.
  As a result, Faisal was assassinated by the rulers, and the sword had been given to Gradenigo.
  Upon receiving the sword, the Sultan agreed to the peace treaty upon the condition that the Bedouin be expelled from Jaffa.
  A fellow in arms had been slain.
  And the Suez Canal plan that had been hatched for the sake of the country and for its people had ended abruptly.
  Alvise was filled with rage and disappointment and aimed his pistol at Gradenigo.
  However, the Venice soldiers that served Gradenigo stopped him.
  As an ambassador with the highest authority in the country, they would be forced to kill not only Alvise, but also Vittoria and Player as well if he were to harm Gradenigo.
  Alvise lowered his weapon.
  Seeing this, Gradenigo laughed in satisfaction and left.

• According to the soldiers, this decision was not Gradenigo's, but the Decemviri which served under the Doge.
  They said that rather than all-out competition with Turkey, it was more important to be focusing on improving domestic industries.
  The Doge offered Alvise amnesty and appointed him the head of defence for the front line base in Candia.
  However, it was clear that they were simply trying to get rid of him.
  Alvise said he would defend the base in Jaffa even if he had to do it alone.
  In response to which, the soldiers sadly stated that if that were to happen, then they would be forced to fight each other and much unnecessary bloodshed would occur.
  Alvise was distraught that he and Faisal were trapped in the palm of Gradenigo's hand all along.
  He stated that he would leave for Candia within that day, and then went the opposite direction from the port so that he could attend the funeral of those Bedouin soldiers that he had fought alongside with.

• The military officers tried to prevent Alvise from doing such a reckless act.
  Vittoria also tried to stop him.
  However, the military officers still tried to get him to leave, prompting Vittoria to tell them not to ruin their dreams any further.
  In response to her great sadness and quiet fury, the officers became silent, and taking up their weapons, left.

• Vittoria said that she and Alvise would be leaving for Candia.
  For no matter how strong a person may be, they cannot bear it if they are forced to go through a severe trauma alone.
  Just as Vittoria had given up her dream and closed her Salon, Player was there by her side so she was able to get through it.
  Vittoria vowed that one day, their troubles would be gone and there would come a day where they could both smile again and then she left.
  And so, Venice and Turkey forged peace, and Alvise and Faisal's plan to build a Suez Canal was gone.
  Records of the hard-fought battle near Suez were expunged from the history books, and Alvise was demoted to Candia.
  Meanwhile, Gradenigo returned home in triumph as a hero who had managed to earn peace without any bloodshed.
