  He claimed that Alvise's actions were unjust and that he was the victim of a conspiracy.
  The people took these words as fact and soon really believed that Alvise was behind a massive conspiracy to seize power.

  The citizens screamed for Alvise to admit his crimes and for Vittoria to give up her luxurious pursuits.
  Then, an artist from Vittoria's Salon came along and drove away the people.

  Vittoria replied that nothing that could be done, and invited Player into the mansion.

• Vittoria closed the Salon and resolved to relinquish all of her pieces of art.
  The reason for doing so was twofold.
  First, she did not want her luxuries to make things worse for Alvise.
  And the other reason was because as a condition for Gradenigo agreeing not to put Alvise to death, she had to give up her art as payment.
  As almost if trying to convince herself, she said that by giving up her meagre possessions, she could save Alvise's life.
  The artist was enraged by the situation, but swallowed his anger upon seeing the deep sadness in Vittoria's eyes.
  Promising that the Salon would open again one day, the artist left the room as the caretaker moved in to haul away the pieces of art from a saddened Vittoria.

• In order to see her art one last time, Vittoria headed for the storage vault.
  She asked Player to accompany her because she would be unable to separate herself from these pieces of art if she were by herself.
  She looked at each piece longingly, and spoke of her memories of childhood.
  Lastly, she went to see her favourite piece, the picture of the holy mother and child that her father Maurizio had brought back from France, but it was not where it was supposed to be.
  Just when they were wondering what had happened to it, the voice of the caretaker called out to them.
  It was time for the art to be carried away.
