- Alvero
Wow, we're finally back in Lisbon.
I wonder what Juan and the others will say when they learn I'm back?!
- 1322
- Juan
Oh...? Player! Why are you here?
- 1323
- Alvero
We came back together, Juan.
How have you been?
- 1324
- Juan
Alvero! You're back!
- 1325
- Alvero
...Hey? Where are the others?
- 1326
- Juan
Ah...
you see...
uwah...!
- 1327
- Alvero
What's wrong? Stop sobbing and speak up!
- 1328
- Alvero
What's the matter, Juan?
- 1329
- Juan
...I hate to be the one to tell you this, but they're all gone.
All gone to work for your father, Alvero.
They think working for him will make them more money...
- 1330
- Alvero
I see.
So the trades I left for them to handle...
- 1331
- Juan
...Yeah, they quit those, too.
And they used the money you left to get into the company...
Because they don't think you're going to take over from your father, or because Admiral Gama has fallen from grace, or because they think you're just a kid messing around...
they drifted away.
- 1332
- Alvero
So they were only along for money and my connections, huh...
- 1333
- Juan
Where are you going, Alvero?
- 1334
- Alvero
...I need to talk to my father.
Please come with me, Player.
I need someone to confirm what I have to say about India and Madeira.
- 1335
- Juan
Alvero...
I need to tell him...!
- 1336
- Alvero
I'm home!
- 1337
- Steward
Ah! Young master...! Thank goodness...
thank goodness you're safe!
- 1338
- Alvero
...We can save the tearful reunion for later.
I need to talk to my father.
Is he here?
- 1339
- Steward
He is, but the timing...
- 1340
- Alvero
Player.
Please come with me.
- 1341
- Steward
I'll show you through.
- 1342
- Diego
Ah, Player! You're here too? Good to see you.
- 1343
- Alvero
...Father, tell me.
All I heard in India were bad things about you.
The Gama fleet were so angry with you too, saying you stole everything they've achieved.
Everything the two of us achieved came to nothing due to those orders, too.
Tell me, please.
Why are you so involved with pepper?
- 1344
- Diego
......
- 1345
- Alvero
Everyone is suspicious of you, father.
They think you've done all this for nothing but your own profit...!
- 1346
- Diego
......
- 1347
- Alvero
Please, tell me...! I came all the way back here to prove that the rumours are just lies!
- 1348
- Steward
Master, the emissary from the palace will be here soon.
You must prepare to meet them...
- 1349
- Alvero
He'll do it later!
- 1350
- Diego
...No, I cannot put this off.
Alvero, Player, I'll report your deeds to the king.
That's what you want, isn't it?
- 1351
- Alvero
No! I'm not finished talking with you yet...!
- 1352
- Alvero
Gah...! If he won't talk to me I can't do anything...!
- 1353
- What do you want to do?
- 1355
- Suggest going back outside.
- 1356
- Alvero
I'm fine...
I told you, didn't I.
I'm going to keep on believing him until I confirm the truth.
- 1357
- Alvero
Yeah, you're right.
I'm sorry for dragging you into all this.
Let's go...
- 1358
- Alvero
Hey...
that's...?!
- 1359
- Alvero
Sorry, Player.
There's something I've got to do.
I'll see you again soon.
- 22113
- Eventually, Player's ship arrived in Lisbon.
- 22114
- Alvero went to meet up with his friends.
Juan was surprised at the sudden return of the pair, but aside from Juan, his other friends were nowhere to be seen.
- 22115
- Upon asking where they were, Juan replied that their friends had given up trading in order to be employed by Diego.
The money left with them had also been used in order for them to join the company.
Shocked by his friends' betrayal, Alvero took Player and headed for his house.
- 22116
- Upon returning home, Alvero continued past the butler who tried to stop him and headed to Diego's office.
Entering the office, he told Diego about his suspicions and demanded an answer.
However, Diego remained silent.
Alvero emphasised that he had come home in order to clear away his doubts, but Diego still did not respond.
Diego simply replied, "I will convey word of your deeds to the King," and left the office.
Overcome with surprise, Alvero picked up a letter that was left on the desk.
Upon reading the letter, he asked Player to come back later and then secluded himself in his room.
