                                  The God Protectors of Cities
You know that the prosperous cities of Mesopotamia each had their own god protecting them, right? The city of Uruk, governed by King Gilgamesh, was protected by Inanna, while Ur was protected by Nanna, the moon god. We would not be wrong to think that all of the gods mentioned on the stone tablets we have discovered protected some city or another.

                                  The Helpful God Ea
Now, a clay tablet was found the other day in the vicinity of the Ur ruins. The translation gave us a story of Ea. As you know, Ea plays an importnat role in the Flood mythos. If Ea had not spoken, humankind would have been totally wiped out by the flood.

                                  The City of Ea
It is said that Ea was the protector of the city of Eridu. He is depicted with his upper half being fish and lower half being human. Furthermore he has the tail of a fish as well. He was the god of wisdom and magic. However, my information does not tell me where Eridu was located. Perhaps the city official might know?

                                  The Ancient City of Eridu
You say you are investigating the ancient city of Eridu? I have heard that Eridu was built by the God Enki in the Sumer period. It hosted a ziggurat larger than the one at Ur, one that was said to have pierced the heavens. Enki was later called Ea in the Akkadian language.

                                  Magicians of Eridu
Come to think of it, Eridu had a group who used sorcery and magic. They read the wind and the stars, and occasionally they were able to heal people by reading their illness. The group were highly prized by the Imperial Court in the northern part of Mesopotamia.

                                  The Path of the Magicians
The northern part of Mesopotamia would likely refer to the area of Assyria, don't you think? Nowadays, that would mean this town here, Basra, and then Alexandria, Jaffa, Beirut...
Beirut? Wait isn't the city official of Beirut...?

                                  The Legend of Eridu
I had no idea your investigation had taken you so far. The legend of Eridu has been passed down in my family through generations. Still, I need you to understand that there is no one alive now that can say whether the astrology I practice originated in Eridu or not. As long as you understand that, I will share with you what I know.

                                  The Legend of Ea
It is said that the ancient city of Eridu was located south of Ur. As you alreday know, there are many legends concerning Ea. They say he gave to humanity the skills that allowed them to survive the flood. He governed magic and wisdom, yet was also the Lord of the Harvests. While leading the gods, he was also the creator and protector of humanity.

                                  Legend of the Tablet
Hmmm... Since it's you, I'm willing to show you a stone tablet that has been passed down in my family. In fact, you can see it and pass on its content to teh scvholar of Basra who has come so close to the truth. I believe he too has that right. But this depends on whether or not you yourself are able to approach Ea.

                                  Eridu and Ea
The Mesopotamian city of Eridu, protected by Ea, he who saved mankind from utter extinction, was apparently located near Ur. From there, the magicians moved north. The city Official is willing to show me something related to Ea and Eridu. Let's see what it shows.
