1. Cusco, called the "Navel"
Why is Cusco called the "navel of the world?" Well, in the language of the Incas it originally meant "navel." If you want to know why they choose that name, however... I don't know. There might be someone in town who knows more than i do.

2. Relationship between the "Navel" and the sun temple.
The reason Cusco is called the "Navel"? I presume the stor of the temple of the sun being built here is the reason. You want to know more about it? Okay, i'll tell you what i know.

3. Sun God Inti and the rod
Long ago, there was the sun god Inti. Inti gave his son a rod and sent him to earth, telling him to build the temple of the sun in the location indicated by the staff. Arriving on earth his son threw the staff with all his might. And the staff planted itself in the ground at a certain spot.

4. Creation of the navel
The place the staff indicated was here, Cusco. The temple of the sun was built here and the son became the first emperor of the Inca Empire. So getting back to your original question, the staff would make a hole when it lands in the ground, correct?

5. Does the legendary rod exist?
The staff that indicated the navel was then buried deep in the earth. This is just a legend, but i believe that the staff really exist. I don't have the confidence to dig it up, of course, but i'm sure it is still beneath us here in Cusco, watching over us.

6. Legendary rod sunk in the land of Cusco
Empire, is called the "Navel" because it is where the temple of the sun was built. The staff that indicated this was the place to build the temple is still said to be buried underground. A careful search of the are in north Lima close to Cusco, may uncover it. Go and take a look.
