Seokguram 1. Silla Temple
There used to be a temple there. It was built in the Silla period and I here it was the epitome of Silla art and culture at the time. However, it was destroyed by command of the 4th Emperor. It and large number of Buddha statues were burned. We have some records from the temple. Would you like to see them?
2. The Former Temple
...The temple, enclosed in beautiful castle walls, is one of Silla's cultural masterpieces. It's divided into two sections, with the upper section signifying the realm of Buddha and the lower section the earthly realm. 33 steps mark the way to realm of Buddha. There are multiple towers within the grounds, an auditorium for the discussion of sutras, and a Hall for worshiping Amitabha.
