Upon completing the charting of northwest passage and returning to Mercator, you get one of the usual cutscenes and are given a "Glowstone Ring". It is a perishable accessory and has mineral trade+2, jewellery trade+2.

Did you chart North and South Greenland? In your map go to West Mediterranean Sea area, there you can select the Greenland areas. Report Greenland, talk to Mercator again (click that charting button), and see you can do the NW passage now

Also, as a friend of mine found out, if you haven't charted North and South Greenland already, you need to chart the sea areas that's covered by the North Atlantic Ocean port permit first before you can get to Greenland. These areas include:

Basra - Speak to the Travelling Archaeologist x2
Paris - Enter the Louvre Museum's Main Gallery, then speak to Museum Staff (Male), then Museum Staff (Female), and then speak with Museum Staff (Male) one last time.
The discovery is found just a few steps south of the male Museum Staff's location; to find it, assume he is looking south, with his back to the north.

Discovery: Babylonian Harp, 4-star Treasure category
You also receive a weapon slot item by the same name, which gives 10 Formality, 10 Disguise, +2 Art/Appraisal, +1 Persuasion, 100 Durability, and requires 10k fame to equip. Having seen how badly this database was defaced in the past by gold spammers and anonymous flame wars, I much prefer its "refined" state to that of Wikia-style. I do agree that it would be a great idea for the more active and helpful members of the community to have a chance to input and edit quest/item information, though, or be able to delete lingering spam posts like those found over at Common Grass.

I suppose the problems are threefold: some of the data exists, but isn't completely translated or lacking in skill boosts etc. (Tradescant's Outfit, for example), some of it has been translated but lacks details like quest pages, exp values, or skill boosts (numerous discoveries/EQ), and some of the data just doesn't exist in the database, period. Figuring out which is which and how to overcome it, seems a daunting (though not impossible) task.

I think adding the ability to "edit" equipment/ship parts/etc. like you can quest info, or the ability to add new quest page data, like we can already edit existing quest data, would be a good start. Repairing some of the missing database entries (TH clue names seem to have vanished, which is a shame) would also help. I noticed some existing G.T. quest names have been getting updated lately, so there's obviously SOME work going on behind the scenes, however large or small. Maybe a special section where people with admin-granted power could keep a running tally of things 'to-do' and coordinate their efforts. That sort of thing.

We've talked about this a bit in the past over on Composite Bow as well, but for now, I'm afraid there has been no official word on any of our suggestions. Still, life is nothing if not frequently unexpected and busy; I'm sure there's a lot more to running this site than we can imagine. Here's hoping there will be some progress made in the future.

In the mean time, thanks to Curious and other contributors for helping keep the DB as up to date as possible. It's greatly appreciated - not only by me, but many other players, I'm sure. Cheers, and great online voyaging to you.
