Sirius
The brightest star in the Earth's night sky. One of the three vertices of the Winter Triangle, belonging to Canis Major. The heliacal rising of Sirius, occurs just before the annual flooding of the Nile. Due to this, it's highly regarded in ancient Egypt. The name 'Sirius' is derived from the Ancient Greek, Seirios, meaning glowing or scorcher.
