It subsides expenses including transferring things from your inventory to your bank vault and quarters via the bank and putting things up for sale in the company shop. It gives you back about 10% of your money when transferring things from your inventory to your vault and quarters and if I'm not mistaken, most if not all your money when putting things for sale in the company shop.
