  • Moeraki Boulders
    Large spherical stones found along the Moeraki beach in south New Zealand. They have unique turtle-shell-like cracks on the surface. According to a Maori legend, the boulders came to be when the voyaging canoe Araiteuru crashed onto the beach and the gourd-shaped eel baskets from the canoe transformed into the boulders.
