I regularly get ambushed by these in the atlantic if I sail with caution off. I never sank any but they aren't hard to run away from. Once I was close to beating one but ran out of ammo (had 64 guns). They have loads of timber to repair but they sail stupidly, inviting crits all the time.

they're not overly hard to sink, not really worth the fight right now tho. Melee is something to be avoided however. once you damage their sails it's pretty much over, they sail like a galley and try to board so as the post above mentioned, they open themselves up for crits a lot.

They are available, they ambush you in north atlantic if you sail with caution off (possibly other open seas too). Don't know about their loot though, they have 250 crew so I've only ever beaten them with cannons.

They have 250 sailors and high att/def values. But no, they are not immune. When in disorder, one ghost ship is beatable. I've beaten them a couple of times like that in a 150-sailor vaisseau but never got anything except very little food / water / timber, hence the question (I'm not a plunderer really so no wonder I'm not getting stuff, just curious).

I believe there is actually a quest that needs to be done first that will then unlock the chance of getting ghost wrecks. I can't recall what it was for sure as I did it a long time ago but I think it is the quest to get the salvager job card. Have you done this quest?

I don't think that's the case. I got a 5* ghost wreck in the Baltic Sea for my 14th SW, and I definitely hadn't done the job quest yet, since I hadn't yet found the Santa Maria discovery wreck.

OK so it's not that one but I know there is something that triggers this. I recall an npc talking about "spirits of dead sailors" or something like that. And then my very next shipwreck was a ghost. Does any of that sound familiar V_I?

Nope, I'm afraid it doesn't. This is actually the first I heard about there being a requirement for ghost wrecks to appear, I just thought they were really rare. But if there is a quest trigger, I hope somebody can post what it is,
because ghost wrecks are awesome.

It is certainly possibly I just got lucky and the cause/effect are not directly linked. I believe the quest I was doing was The spirit of the sea floor. But if people have gotten ghosts without finding the Santa Marie first then it can't be a direct trigger. I have read that the ghost wrecks are 30 piece maps if that helps any.

I myself have raised over 190 SWs and only gotten the ghost wrecks twice, and I never recalled talking to any npc about "spirits of dead sailors", and I also gotten my first one before I got the quest to get Salvager job. I believe in the end there's (sadly) nothing you can do to improve your chances of getting these wrecks. It all depends what the game feels like throwing at you.

@Kirto-Kun this ship is only for NPCs to use, such as Blackbeard's fleet in quests and Ganador, as well as ghost vikings and ghosts that may ambush you, as well as new ghost ships from the undead navy later on. Every ship in game must be accounted for stats for the game code of speed and battle, the same for Zheng He's massive treasure ship which is only in his Ganador. Sorry Kirito D: No ghosty for you

Didn't know where to put this, but the Sea of Wonders area is populated by ghost ship x5 fleets. They start with 1000 durability and 250 sailors each, but they're not at max dura and start repairing immediately. Have a safe and fun journey.
