Ancient ball game
A plaza with sloping walls, that'd be a field for the ballgame, right? Under the ancient empire in this area the ballgame blossomed. The ballgame was the same as battle and rituals. Using a ball symbolizing the sun, the outcome would be decided. The loser would be offered up as a sacrifice to the Sun God.

Players and the audience
In the ballgame, the players would pads on their hips, knees, elbows, and thigh and strike the ball with these parts. The points were decided when the ball struck the opposing team's wall. The audience would bet on the outcome. I've heard that they even offered exclusive seats for people of high social status.

Battle for the existence of the country
Sometimes this ballgame was held as a duel between countries. The country that lost in the ballgame itself would be destroyed. Looking at the current situation, the empire that once flourished in those ruins, maybe succumbed to that fate.

Sacred square
A long time ago, they had a ballgame which was treated the same as battle or a ritual. I found that in a certain plaza ruins, there is a field for playing that ballgame. before I report, I'll go see that plaza for myself.
