1. Cusco, called the "Navel"

3. Sun God Inti and the rod
Long ago, there was the sun god Inti. Inti gave his son a rod and sent him to earth, telling him to build the temple of the sun in the location indicated by the staff. Arriving on earth his son threw the staff with all his might. And the staff planted itself in the ground at a certain spot.

4. Creation of the navel
The place the staff indicated was here, Cusco. The temple of the sun was built here and the son became the first emperor of the Inca Empire. So getting back to your original question, the staff would make a hole when it lands in the ground, correct?
