Child's drawing
I want you find out about a child painter. We met at an art competition when I was viewing the child's painting of an old man. The painting exuded such warmth and tenderness that I was deeply moved. With such talent, I thought he was bound to win.

Future talents
However, his painting was not selected. I thought that he would surely be recognized in the next competition, but his work never appeared. If in discouragement, he had put down his brushes, I wanted to tell him that his talent can only blossom.

With expectations for the child
Do you know any contacts should there be an art competition in Amsterdam? There must be many people who share my desire to see him try again. I wish to tell him of this passion. Please help.

An exhibition for gathering fresh splendours
The art competition? I went there too. The child's painting had a boldness and radiance indistinguishable from the work of masters. Do you not recall the child's painting of the old man?

The last two sheets
Of the two paintings vying for the award for excellence, one, of an elderly person had such a warm of colour. It was a painting still in the process of formation, a snapshot of talent in the making. I recall being most surprised that the artist was so young.

Expectations for new works
Although his work has not appeared in subsequent competitions, his new paintings would be much welcomed. I heard that the youth who won that competiton is now in London and may know something of the child.

Along with friendly competition
Ah, the child from that competition. They say he is living in a village near Antwerp. Luckily I won but his painting had so much warmth... I thought that he had outstanding talent in his power of expression. Every day I yield the brush hoping to paint like him.

Life's ambition
That boy died a considerable time ago. Poor child. How his life could have changed if things had turned in his favour. There is no way for words to reach him now. Tell this to the one who seeks him.
