Another Study on Koxinga
No Expiration
Jakarta Adventurer's Guild
Do you remember when we had you do research on Koxinga? We've got a request from another bloke who would like you to research Koxinga's activities up to is travels to Taiwan. The requested is a trade merchant in Manila. He said something about "fund management", but who knows what that means. Talk to the merchant himself about it.

[IMG:01] 1. Until Taiwan
I'm curious how Koxinga managed his funds all the way to Taiwan. It's also impossible to conduct trade without knowing the conditions of the area. I'm really interested in where his funds came from. Try talking to some people who have connections to him. Maybe they'll be able to give you a lead.
[IMG:01] 2. Koxinga's Father
I see. I don't know if I've got any information that can help you, but I'll talk. Koxinga had sufficient military supplies and finances before he gained power in Taiwan. Koxinga's father Zheng Zhilong controlled a large navy and left behind many military supplies and funds.
[IMG:01] 3. Pirates Who Seized the Seas
Zheng Zhilong navy was active as an armed force. The Ming Army was unable to repel them, and ultimately the Ming army left the oversight of the pirates to them. It is not an exaggeration to say that Zheng Zhilong's forces controlled the seas. But Zheng Zhilong was felled by the Qing Army, and Koxinga inherited the remnants of his father's army.
[IMG:01] 4. Power to Capture Taiwan
Koxinga expressed loyalty for Ming, and in this way parted ways with his father. That must have been a difficult decision to make.... However, without Zheng Zhilong's finances, it would have been much more difficult to sail to Taiwan. It's quite ironic. If you'd like to know about his activities after that, you should ask He-Bin.
[IMG:01] 5. Controlled Trade
While active on the seas, Koxinga used the hegemony his father created to monopolized trade. Koxinga would press authoritative seals on exports to and imports from ohter countries for total control. One would imagine this brought great profits in to his hands.
[IMG:01] 6. Expectations for Taiwan
However, his funding structure was destroyed by the Qing army's schemes. It's hard to say whether or not his finances are in good shape now. But I think it would be possible to organize a decent financing system on this island, with its fertile soil and abundant resources. And I'm sure someone like Koxinga could work his way out of a difficult situation.
[IMG:01] 7. Zheng's Seal
Speaking of which, the seal that Koxinga used is stored at the archives in town. It is a testament that Koxinga controlled trade and gained large amounts of capital. You should go and see it if you're interested.
[IMG:06] 8. Trade Management
Koxinga once inherited the might of his father Zheng Zhilong, ruled the near seas, and gained capital by monopolizing trade. The seal used by Koxinga to manage trade is apparently stored at the archives in town. Confirm its location and make your report.
