It was you who found the island of Rapa Nui, wasn't it? The Guild dispatched a survey team to explore that island. It seems that there are a people who live there who have a very interesting culture. I have a request to perform a detailed survey... perfect for a skilled sailor such as yourself. Please ask the Port Official to give you a report on this. I'm counting on you.

                    1. Birdmen
So, about Rapa Nui, while they do worship large statues they also worship the Tangata manu. Tangata means person, and manu means bird, so together it mean "bird-man". However, the Tangata manu is not a god that is just worshipped...

                    2. Title of Tangata Manu
In September of every year a certain bird would come and lay its eggs on the small island of Motu Nui near Rapa Nui. The warriors of Rapa Nui would each designate what was called a Hopu to swim across to the island and bring back one of these eggs for them. The leader of the clan whose Hopu brought back the egg first would become the Tangata manu.

                    3. Investigation of Tangata Manu
Whoever earned this title would gain full power over the entire island. However, it is still not clear as to exactly what role the Tangata manu played in their society. I want you to look into this and find out. The sailors here in town have also been helping out with this so maybe they can give you some additional information to get you started.

                    4. Personification of the god Makemake
The Tangata manu... That's the god with the head of a bird and the body of a human. However, it is actually just an incarnation of the god Makemake. The Tangata manu is said to possess great spiritual powers. The sailor from Run that accompanied you also helped me to collect information about legends, so if you want more details head over to Run.

                    5. A mysterious skull
Long ago there was a woman who lived in a cave in the outskirts of Rapa Nui. She had a skull, and that skull had a mysterious power. She would use the power of that skull to make prophecies and relieve people of their pains.
However, one day the island was ravaged by a terrible storm...

                    6. Location of the skull
The floods reached the woman's cave and the skull was carried out to sea. The woman tried to swim after it, but the skull was swept away at an unbelievable pace and ended up washing ashore on an island called Machirohiva. The woman managed to reach this island but just as she laid her hands on the skull she collapsed from exhaustion. And when she finally came to...

                    7. God that loves fowl
She was greeted by a man named Haua. He tells her that that skull is actually the god Makemake. Then Makemake comes out of the skull and takes on the form of a god. It was on that island that Makemake first ate the meat of a bird. He immediately loved the taste and , since no birds existed on Rapa Nui, he brought birds back with him along with Haua.

                    8. God that created birds
The people of Rapa Nui were delighted with this new delicious animal. But, unfortunately they were unable to plan for their future and ate all the birds and their eggs. Makemake brought more chickens but instead of bringing them to Rapa Nui he took them to the neighbouring island of Motu Nui to live.

                    9. Birdman that crossed the sea
Due to the many sharks that roam around Motu Nui it is not a simple feat to swim there for the birds. Thus, the ritual of crossing the water and retrieving a magical egg from the birds brought there by Makemake himself is used as a method to determine who is worthy to receive those spiritual powers and become the Tangata manu...! Maybe...

                    10. Tangata Manu
The Tangata manu is an incarnation of Makemake. He has the head of a bird and the body of a human and is not only an object of worship but a person who has been able to retrieve an egg from the birds brought by Makemake to the island of Motu Nui. I should look for some item related to this "bird-man" on Rapa Nui.

On Rapa Nui, there are believers of Tangata Manu, the bird man that is the metamorphosis of a god called Makemake.
It is said that the birdman has extremely strong spiritual powers and those that receive the honour to be called a birdman are given total control over the island for one year.
