      No.4239

      Edit
      Close to the storm
      No Expiration
      Portobelo Adventurer's Guild
In summer and autumn, this area is ravaged by violent storms. This causes a number of shipwrecks. So it's been decided that warnings should be made about potential storms. Also, a lighthouse will be built to act as a landmark for Sailors. I want you to search for a location where that could be built. First, you might want to consult with a tavern Barkeep

              1. Portobelo - Talk to the Barkeep 3 times
              4. The Gulf of Mexico - Around 12500,3950 (east of Merida) Observe Recognition

              1. Testimony of sailors
Don't know whether this is useful in therms of the request....
Anyway, way back a Merida and Cayenne sailor were having a drink. Topic was none other than the weather. They started to go on about meeting a terrific storm, but there was some difference of opinion as to when the storm occurred.

              2. Barkeeper's bright idea
Then it donned on me: wouldn't the place where the timing of the storm was earliest would be closest to the storm's point of origin, assuming such thing existed? Then on, I went from town to town to query sailors about the storm.

              3. The time draws near
Some slight variation in the time of the storm's occurrence, but it seems Merida and Veracruz experienced it earliest. It then moved to Trujillo and Jamaica.... Likely that the point of origin was near the Gulf of Mexico.
If you are to put a lighthouse somewhere, wouldn't the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula be best?

              4. Tip of the peninsula
Seems that as a candidate area for a lighthouse, somewhere in the expansive Gulf of Mexico west of Havana would be a good bet.
If the Yucatan Peninsula, it is both close to Havana and offers a secretive communications corridor with Merida. Make haste to survey the topography there.

The cape is the northernmost point of the Yucatan peninsula. Europeans following their dream to the New World often became tossed by the merciless storms of the Caribbean and end up on this Cape.
