      Portobelo Adventurer's Guild
We received another request to investigate something from that client. They said they want us to look into the lineage of the Palenque royal family some more. Didn't you say that the buildings in those ruins were covered with writing? So that, by deciphering them, we could understand a great many things? Then why don't you ask around in town about that writing?

                    1. Crest Lettering
I hear from different adventurers that the Mayan script is particularly difficult. Pictographs, made up mostly of pictures... Some common letters were identified comparing various epitaphs. I have only this much information. Why don't you go to Merida?

                    2. Deciphering the relief
Hey you, you found the relief of a king shedding his blood? Several names of possible kings have been identified based on the letters engraved on it. Do you see the scholar over there? He is quite knowledgeable.

                    3. Kings of Palenque
We unearthed the names of the king up to Zac Kuk, Pacal, Kan Balaam, Kansshur. In particular, Zac Kuk and Pacal were the rulers right in the middle of the battle of the stars. There are many epitaphs about them. I am sure this will be researched further now. All we know now is...

                    4. K'uk' and Pacal
Zac Kuk was the queen and mother of Pacal. She was crowned as the male line dwindled and Pacal was still a child. From this we can guess that Mayan royal family, at least the Palenque, were patriarchal. The Palenque seem to have prospered immensely after the crowning of Pacal.

                    5. Relief of Chan Bahlum
The relief you found the other day apparently belong to Kan Balaam. Thanks to this, we will learn more and more about Kan Balaam. The one we have least information about now is Kansshur. It seems they found something related to Kansshur in Veracrus...

                    6. Painting of a king being sacrificed
A small section of an epitaph seems to have been found away from the Palenque remains. It apparently has Kanshhur's name and the figure of a king offered as a sacrifice to the gods etched on it. This may be the biggest clue to the downfall of Palenque.

                    7. Deciphering of crest lettering
Since the Mayan hieroglyphs are unique, there are many letters still undeciphered, however some letters have been figured out thanks to the Palenque discovery. Palenque's decline may be due to one of their kings, Kansshur, being captured and killed. Let's look for clues and related to him at the Mayan lowlands.
