1. Island to the east of Java
I heard from a Sailor that Hinduism is flourishing on the east side of Java Island. I'm really interested to know what kind of place that is. I'm sorry to ask you to go on such a long trip, but could you investigate that for me? I'm sure you could learn something by going to Malacca. Thanks. I really appreciate this!

2. Failing number of Hindu countries
This region has traded with India since ancient times. So Hinduism spread here about 1000 years ago. You'll find traces of Hindu temples at many different locations. But Islamic teachings have steadily gained in popularity. Now there aren't so many countries that follow Hinduism.

3. Head to Surabaya
Now Hinduism is only worshipped somewhat on the east side of Java Island. Like the Singhasari Kingdom and the Majapahit Empire, countries which follow Hinduism have continuously thrived there. I believe that the Majapahit Empire is the current ruler of that land...

4. Shaken Influence
Between you and me, there are rumours that the Majapahit Empire won't be around much longer. Islamic countries have been aggressively invading their lands. And the only neighbouring countries they could ask for help all follow Islam. In that case, they could be worse off than fleeing to the island to the east and living in peace...

5. Difference from India
Oh, about the island to the east? The islanders there also follow Hinduism. And a lot of their citizens are more devoted than the people here. I've also been to India on business, so I can tell you that the Hinduism they practise there is a little different than the one in India. Well, isn't that right?

6. Temple missing its divine statue
Oh, yeah. I agree. For example, in the Hindu temples there, they set up thrones instead of statues of the gods. In front of those thrones, they then place lavish offerings. Maybe they think that the gods come down and sit there. Well, that island is directly east of Surabaya.

7. Branch of Hindu religion
East of Surabaya, it's said there's an island where Hinduism is devoutly worshipped. The type of Hinduism followed there is a little different than that practised in India. Verify the island's location and report your findings.
