Africa's green forest

I see, so elephants have already disappeared from the Italian peninsula. But how about Africa? Carthage is where Tunisia currently is, right? They might still be stomping around there, huh? If you find something out, make sure you report to the requester.

[IMG:01] Egyptian elephant
It seems that there used to be Elephants at Alexandria in Egypt, and in Syria, long ago. The war elephant armies of Carthage imported elephants from Syria. But there are no more elephants in Syria or in Egypt, right? I don't know why, but it could be overhunting for ivory, or it could be climate change.
[IMG:01] Puntland elephant
It seems that elephants were even kept in this country, but they weren't native. People went all the way to Punto to catch them. Punto is a country that surrounds a long, narrow bay, southeast of here. The scholar of this city might know about it.
[IMG:01] Southern forests
It seems that elephants are still kept in a country southeast of here. The country is called Prester John, or something. Also, elephants are hunted for food in broad, green forests to the southwest of here. You should take a look at the documents we have here.
[IMG:02] On elephant hunting in the forest of flies
Far to the south of the Sahara and the Nile,. in a land of endless deep forests, there is a fly that carries sleeping sickness. When the flies proliferate, the livestock die off, so the people have to hunt elephants on the grassland to get fresh meat. They dive under the belly of the elephant and stab it to death with spears, then share the meat out between everybody. It's a job for brave hunters.
[IMG:06] Africa's green forest
It seems that elephants still live in the interior of southwest Africa. Have you ever seen an elephant for yourself? First deliver your report to the person who asked for it, then consult the guild.
[IMG:06] Africa's green forest
Wow, so that means there are still elephants in the back-country of South Africa. I definitely want to hear a detailed account of what kind of animals they are. But more importantly... I wonder if elephant meat tastes good? An intriguing thought, isn't it?

Your need Swahili language or African languages translation note at the part where you need to browse Biology section at Alexandria Archives.

Swahili or Arabic needed
BIakeC06-27-2014
You need Swahili AND Arabic for this quest, not just one of them. You can use African languages translation notes for Swahili (not sure if you can use two translation notes at the same time), but the closest port that sells them is Saint-Georges.
Egw06-27-2014
Hint: Chester has Swahili, so before heading to Saint-Georges for notes, check with your shipbuilding friends if anybody is nearby and could fleet with you for this step.

Don't forget Lewis and Philman, aides that also learn Swahili at the same time as Chester, and can be hired much sooner! It isn't possible to use two translation notes at the same time, either, I tried it and failed.
