The true Pillars of Hercules

Naples Adventurer's Guild
This is about Atlantis, which you have previously investigated. Theres a theory that it was not in the Azores, but in the Aegean Sea! It won't do any harm to go investigate in Athens, would it?

[IMG:01] 1. Mycenae
The Pillars of Hercules usually refer to the entrance of the straits of Gibraltar. However, Myvenae was also referred to as the Pillars of Hercules in ancient times. There are also records of an island that sank to the bottom of the ocean in a single night in the Aegean Sea. Perhaps Atlantis was actually an island that existed somewhere in front of Mycenae, not Gibraltar.
[IMG:01] 2. A mixture of legends
The statement of "to the west of Libya" doesnt match up with the Aegean Sea but I think that is because this is a combination of legends of the Azores and Atlantis. I believe it was a very long time ago when the island sank into the Aegean Sea as well, but there was supposedly a highly advanced civilization thriving on the island of Crete much earlier than that
[IMG:01] 3. Cretan civilization
I think the Cretan civilization is the true Atlantis. Crete earned great riches through sea trade and was a civilization of great splendour. The Minotaur and paintings found on pottery from there also fit the bull motif that Plato describes. However, ancient crete would be modern-day Candia and there is no metal found there today.
[IMG:01] 4. The Thira eruption
The island that sank in the Aegean sea would be Thira to the north of Crete. The majority of the island sank into the sea because of volcanic eruptions, and other small islands close by, including Crete, were destroyed by tidal waves and earthquakes. Maybe the cretan civilization was destroyed by a volcanic eruption?
[IMG:01] 5. The true atlantis
Do you know what "Thira" means? It comes from the Latin "Terra", or "Earth". Thira, which was named after the earth itself was once a single large island and, like Atlantis, was a thriving, highly advanced society before the volcanic eruption. It makes sense, right?
[IMG:06] 6. The true Pillars of Hercules
Mycenae is also called the Pillars of hercules and some theories suggest that the island of Thira located in front of Mycenae may actually be Atlantis. thira means "earth" and is located close to Crete. The cretan civilization was very affluent through sea trade but was suddenly wiped out by an eruption of the volcano on Thira.
