Balmung

1. Kriemhild's revenge
Having sworn her revenge Kriemhilt remarries with the king of the Huns, Atilla, and invites the Burgundians to visit the capital. Dietrich, king of the eastern Goths warns Hagen that Kriemhilt has sworn to kill him for to avenge the death of her husband but he accepts her invitation anyway and is ambushed by her subordinates as he arrives.

2. Kriemhild's death
Kriemhilt gets her revenge bu cutting off Hagen's head with the Balmung. However, she is eventually cut down and killed by a knight of the eastern Goths who was angered by her deed. In the end many knights lost their lives in this battle and the whereabouts of the gold of the Rhine fall into obscurity. However, it is said that the Balmung was taken somewhere to the north...

3. The legend of Balmung
The sword Balmung is also known by the name Gram. It is a sword that was forged by the Nibelungs and is said to have a blue gemstone in the handle. There are many legends associated with it. For example, some say that it could cleave and anvil in twain, others say that the blood that is absorved when Siegfried used it to kill the dragon Fafnir gave him the power to understand the language of birds.

4. The sword falls to the Ostrogoths
After Siegfried's death the Balmung was given to his wife Kriemhilt. After her death it was probably picked up by Hildebrand, the eastern Goth knight who killed her. You know the eastern Goths right? They are the Germanic tribe from northern Italy that brought down the Roman Empire.

5. The fall of the Ostrogoths
If you're talking about the sword named Gram, then there are accounts of it being used in battle by Dietrich, the king of eastern Goths. However, the eastern Goths are eventually brought down by the East Roman Empire. At the time it was thought that sword forged by the blacksmiths of the Rhine were the best in the world. Perhaps a sword as great as the Gram was presented to the east Romans after the Goths were defeated by them.

6. The consequences of revenge
After remarrying with the king of the Huns, Atilla, Kriemhilt gets her revenge by cutting off the head of Hagen with the Balmung. But unfortunately, she was then killed herself by a knight of the eastern Goths. The sword was then passed on from the knights to Dietrich, the king of the eastern Goths, but soon after that the eastern Goths were destroyed by the East Roman Empire.
