      고대의 영웅이라면 알렉산더 대왕이지. 짧은 기간에 페르시아를 정복하고 인도까지 원정을 했다니까. 대왕에 대해 조사하는 사람이 많으니 의뢰도 많이 들어온다네. 이번 의뢰는 대왕에 관한 일화에 대한 정보 수집이야. 이스탄불의 서고에 가보는 것이 좋을 걸세.

                1. 책에 기록된 대왕의 일화
                알렉산더 대왕에 관한 일화인데… …제 장서에 그런 기술이 있었습니다. 전설과 미신에 좌우되지 않고, 스스로 길을 개척하는 의지가 나타나 있는 일화였습니다. 고고학 책장을 찾아보세요. 그 이야기에 등장하는 도시는 틀림없이 아나트리아 반도의 서해안이었을 것입니다.

                2. 고르디우스의 매듭
                점령한 한 도시에‘고르디우스의 매듭’이라고 불리는 밧줄이 있었다. 그 밧줄을 푼 자가 아시아의 패자가 된다는 것이었다. 대왕은 자신의 검을 빼내어 그 매듭을 잘라버렸다. 그것은 대왕의‘운명은 스스로 개척하는 것’이라는 선언을 뜻하는 것이었다고 한다.

                3. 대왕의 검
                알렉산더 대왕은, 풀어낸 사람이 패자가 된다는 전설의 밧줄을 검으로 잘라내어, 부하들에게 자신의 힘으로 길을 개척할 것이라고 선언했다고 한다. 그 일화에 등장하는 도시는 터키 서쪽 해안 부근에 있다고 한다. 일화를 증명하는 물건을 찾을 수 있을지도 모른다. 찾아보자.

                    Istanbul Scolar: You want an anecdote about Alexander the Great? Hmm. I think I have something in my library. It described him as a person who was not make decisions influenced by legends or superstitions. Look at my archaeology shelf. I believe the town that appears in the anecdote was located on the west coast of the Anatolian peninsula.

                    Arch book: In one conquered town, there was a rope tied between a post and an ox-cart called the "Gordian Knot". There was a propgecy saying the one who untied the know would rule all of Asia. It just so happended that the great king himself cut the knot with his sword. The king then decreed "destiny is what man carves out for himself"

                    The sword is located NW of the Great Dead Tree in the north
